: rectifier regulator and stator tests

can someone hook me up with the proper diagnostic test to see if I have a bad rectifier regulator or stator?

My bike(01-750) has been showing the signs of bad charging, I even bought a new battery thinking that was the problem but it wasn't.

Thanks

If you have a multimeter you might want to check for leakage current and then check the charging system.

To check battery current leakage: With the Key in the off position, disconnect the battery (-) terminal. With the multimeter set to amps, Connect one lead to the (-) cable and the other to the (-) terminal on the battery. Current flow should be < 3 ma (.003 amps)

To check charging system output: With battery reconnected. Start the bike, measure voltage across the terminals with the bike revved to 5000 rpm. Voltage should be 13.5 volts to 15 volts @ 5000 rpm.

To check generator output: Disconnect the generator output connector (left side of bike, just forward of the coolant resevoir, white connector) With the bike running at 5000 rpm the voltage from any terminal in the connector to any other terminal in the connector, should be > 65 Volts

To check coil resistance: Check resistance between each of the 3 terminals with the bike off. Resistance should be between .2 to .5 ohms.
