I tired the autotrader but i have no idea how or what to do.
I mean i am kinda scraed to buy second hand from a private person as I have heard so many horror stories about the bikes having not been paid fully and stuff like that.
Also I have no idea as to what to look pout for in a bike here in the UK, like is the exaust legal or not, MOT,VAT, Tax and tags and all that bullshit.
I moved to england a year ago when my compnay sent me over here and i have decided I have had enough of th etube.

By teh way what kind of price and specs for yoru GSXR, and how far is scotland from London in miles?

If you're buying a bike privately, just get an HPi check. They'll tell you if the bike is stolen, if it's ever been in an accident or if any money is owing on it. Costs about £40, IIRC. There's links to HPi from the Autotrader site. They guarantee their results too, so if a bike does turn out stolen/insurance write off/not paid for they'll cover the cost of your bike.

It a good 500 miles or so. You will find something down there anyway.

Basically have a good look at mileage, service history, MOT certificate and make sure they all tie in i.e. the mileage has not been tampered with.
Then start looking at any sort of recipts for work carried out. Most people will keep a log of work done on thier bike. Look at the overall condition to see if that ties in with the age of bike. Ask about how many months TAX are left (£45 for i year), how long the MOT has to run (any bike over 3 year old must have one, ~£40). Most bikes will have a non-standard exhaust so ask if the original is avialabe as you need it for MOT. Things like chain and sprockets need replaced every 10000miles (£110), tyres are also reasonably expansive (£160 a pair). Ask if the Cam Chain Tensioner has been relplaced if it an SRAD bike.
Basically buy the newest, cleanest most genuine bike you can afford. If you buy from a dealer then you should get some sort of warranty. Private sale you have no comeback but are cheaper.

My bike is a 2000 SRAD 6 with 13200miles. Yellow & black with a few extras. Good nick and I am looking for £3400 for it. I know that is £200 less than the Glass trade in price but I have no interest. Weather is getting crap you see up here.

Thank you for all of yoru comments they are much appreciated.
I don think I can afford a 2002 or 2003-04 model, so I think i wil go with a 2000 model.
I just wonder if there is a big difference between the 2000 SRAD and the 2001 Fuel Injected.
