I have my 1st new bike ( 750 black/orange) on order. I'm curious as to why, with so many that do away with the rear fender/plates, why doesn't the factory just better the design? Is it law? I've never had to do a fender elim myself, and am not looking forward to it from what I have read so far. Any positive input is appreciated.

If you have any mechanical know how whatsoever, replacing your undertail is not a big thing. Mine was 8 push pins, 2 screws, and 2 wire splices... took an hour, that was with 2 beers and a cig. Plus you should look forward to taking your bike apart bit by bit, it allows you to see where things are located, and gives you more confidence when installing/removing things. Just take your time, use the correct tools, and enjoy yourself.

They put them on there for things such as reflectors, license plate lights,so you don't throw shit all over anyone riding within 100ft of your rear tire,etc...

As to why, I have no idea but dont be affraid of fitting the fender eliminator, its easy.

Just follow the instructions (The R&G ones are VERY clear), take your time and you'll have it done in no time.
Mine took 20 mins, that included splicing the rear light wire and soldering the new LED one provided with the fender eliminator.

Just rememeber, the top 3 rivets (button clips) you pull the centre up, the bottom 2 you push the centre in.

Its a piece of piss! I've done it on my K6 600 and my K7 1K. The 1K was the easiest. Just decide whether you can be arsed with a plate light or not then it will make the install easier or a little harder. Either way its still simple. That things gotta come straight off tho mate!

They put it on, but they make it easy to take right back off!

Aside from swingarm spools, fender eliminators are probably the easiest accessories to put on these bikes.
