im picking up my buddy's 01 750 and am wondering if there is anything i should look for as in common problems or what not. im new to the forums. thanks a lot in advance.

welcome to the board. a few 01's had some tranny problems. take it for a ride and run it all the way to redline in second gear. if it feels like its skipping or not running right then you have the bad gear problem.. although this was really an 00 problem..

thanks for the welcome and the heads up on the tranny issue. i will check that out next time i see the bike.

I bought mine new last summer and have not had any problems except for the stator. 10,000 miles.

yeah some 2001 models are actually late registered 2000 bikes so its worth looking out for ,usually most noticable in 2nd gear when your rolling on the gas hard, its the tranny but the best way to describe it is that it feels like the chain jumps a link ,no noise tho just a loss of drive for a second
