: Non OEM Suzuki Sliders
rraiderr 05-06-2008, 11:52 PM Who has non Suzuki OEM sliders on their bike now or in their possession?
What brand are you running and are they cut or no cut? Any feedback?
I need sliders now and may just go with Woodcraft.

I just got the evotech tail tidy and it is really well made and looks great, so the Crash Bobbins (frame sliders) look equally amazing and well made. They have an aero style (tear drop shaped) if you look half way down this link http://www.evotech-performance.com/acatalog/evotech_tail_tidy_shop.html

Very happy with the Tail Tidy, so I think I will try the Crash Bobbins as well.
morgan750 05-07-2008, 08:10 AM I found my self in the same position and went ahead and installed k7crafts on my k8 750. All cut style sliders from the k6/k7 work. just gotta ask yourself if you want to cut a 2" hole in both sides(yes both) of your fairing. the right side sticks out just the way i wanted, the left isn't as much but does the trick for me. as soon as i get a chance i'll throw up some pics
SUBKING 05-07-2008, 08:56 AM Ive been also looking into these and think I have finally decided on the SHOGUN No Cut sliders

those look pretty sweet. i would have probably went with those if i hadn't gotten a set of racing railz... cool!

Are they for a K8 or your K7?
rraiderr 05-07-2008, 07:57 PM I ended up going the tried and true Woodcrafts again.
dietCOKaine 05-07-2008, 08:29 PM Stay away from no cut sliders. The last pair I had tweaked the bolt hole and put a hair line fracture in the frame. The no cuts are basically creating a Fulcrum with the little swing arm and when pressure is applied, the fulcrum creates lots of pressure on the frame and can often cause small fractures that over time will grow due to all the vibrations going through the frame. If done right, the cut sliders will look factory and nice...just take your time and do it right.
rraiderr 05-07-2008, 08:53 PM What brand caused the damage? I know if they stick to far out they will do major damage to the bike.
I have not seen to many no cuts fair to well when guys go down at the track.
That would suck having a slider crack my frame.

They were LP, but the impact on the extended no cut arm pried the frame slider to the slider side and I could see my frame hole widened almost double in circumference and the hair line fracture it put in my frame. Had to replace the whole frame for $4000. If I would have used Cut sliders, I would have not had any frame damage I was told. I could clearly see how the no cut swing arm extension had caused all the damage.
Cut and save your frame!!

i use R&G sliders
FlipRN 05-08-2008, 04:31 AM On My 750 I've got Intuitive brand, required drilling on the left side only.
On my 600 has Vortex, required drilling on both sides.
I've crash tested the intuitives on my R6 twice. The 1st time it survived, the 2nd time it got ripped out by the high speed lowside.
morgan750 05-08-2008, 09:03 AM K7 woodcraft sliders on my k8. IMHO clean, but more importantly strong! i was i a rush to ride so i haven't used my dremel to sand down the edges yet..
homig101 05-08-2008, 11:30 AM i have some shogan sliders full kit, no cuts fit K8 600. Check out moto911.com

Any chance of any pictures?
Also, how easy/difficult were they to fit?
rraiderr 05-08-2008, 08:52 PM Very nice morgan.
dietCOKaine 05-08-2008, 10:48 PM Morgan, maybe you can use some vehicle door trim (comes in long rubber strips) to cover the edges of the holes you made to give it a nice clean appearance.
morgan750 05-09-2008, 07:45 AM thanx rraiderr, dietcokaine def worth taking a look at. i'll post a final outcome shot w/ what i end up with.
I'm using K7 Vortex cut sliders - $65 from my dealer. Only the left side needed a cut. I also bought the mounting hardware kit twice cause the left one did not stick out as far as i'd like so i have two of the tapered mounts. I'll post pics tonight.
Suzuki Squid 05-10-2008, 07:43 PM What did you guys use to cut your holes? One of those round hole saw's i think they're called with the drill bit in the middle for the pilot hole.
RuiKai 05-10-2008, 07:53 PM is it just me or those woodcraft frame sliders look kinda short? based from the pictures from morgan post the one on the left side looks alot shorter than the one on the right side. it almost looks like the fairing on the left will prob hit something else if it drops, and on the right side looks like the muffler will hit 1st.
rraiderr 05-10-2008, 09:48 PM Yes they are as woodcraft are more of a race frame sliders. They are not designed to save the plastic, they are designed to save the frame.
Sliders that stick out far will cause the bike to catch and flip they also but major stress on the mount points and can cause damage.
If you are looking to protect you plastic get a cage if you are looking to for frame protection when you go down at speed go Woodcraft.
Lot's and lot's of track day guys and bracket races run them with great success.
RuiKai 05-10-2008, 10:16 PM if what you say is true. then maybe shoguns arnt such a bad choice if i wanna save my plastic (at low speeds). and by "cage" do you mean race rails or race cage? that is used mostly for stunting? if so i found some that fits 2007 gsxr 600, you know if they fit 2008 also?
thanks :D
rraiderr 05-10-2008, 11:02 PM Race rails
Yes used for stunting as the protect more than just the frame.
Do not know if they will fit.
RuiKai 05-11-2008, 02:58 AM i found a few sites for the race rails, apparently they do not require fairing cuts.
from the looks of the pictures as long as the bolting points of the bike that existed on the old gsxr is still present in the 08 gsxr, i dont see why it wont fit?
also from experience does these race rails get in the way of your leg? or anything?
any thoughts? thanks

rraiderr summed it up best.. I've heard nothing but good things from people using woodcrafts and IMO I'd rather replace plastic or a muffler instead of a frame/engine cases/or even worse. I'm more than satisfied with them, but to each his own, good luck w/ what you guys run
RuiKai 05-11-2008, 12:19 PM thanks morgan, im new, so maybe you can run a few approx figures through me.
lets say i drop it, and i fuk up my fairing, run me 600 a piece?
but if my frame gets jacked up how much?
what do you think about race rails, those protect both? any cons?
thanks
