Picked up my first 750 last night at the dealer.
I'm about 160, and whenever going over bumps etc, i almost go flying off the back of the bike, like an ejection seat. Seems WAY too stiff.
Would this be the preload setting that i need to adjust?
Is there a special tool for the rear preload? Or can i just use a screw driver to loosen the top ring, then same for bottom ring.

Have a friend help you get the rear tire off the ground and measure from rear axle to a fixed point on tail section. Record number. Then sit on the bike and have friend measure between same two points. The second measurement should be between 25mm-30mm shorter. That is rider sag. Yes, you adjust with preload. Yes, you can use a screwdriver, but be careful.

Here you go buddy..i was a little surprised when i found this also..keep in mind suspension depends on what you do and how big you are..but this is def a good starting point

Nope. But i wasn't expecting to be launched 30 feet into the air just cause i went over a crack in the road.

Ya i've seen that. Unfortunately their pretty much worthless, as none of them have the riders weight filled in, and most of them don't have how agressively they are, or how they like their bike, (tight, stiff) filled into the notes.

I had the same problem, felt like my back was about to give out every time I got off the bike. I went to a local suspension shop and they set up the sag, etc on me bike. Best 20 bones I have spent

Had to undo the rear preload about 1 turn. Got my sag about 28mm. Front is within range.
Rides better!

28mm is low for the rear especially on the street.
Check out Ohlins chart.

Also do not forget to soften up high and low comp damping and check rebound.

Ya roger. I could loosen her up a little more. Maybe 30mm, 32mm. It still does feel a little stiff, similar to my previous bike tho.
