I am getting my 08 750 in a couple of weeks. I am in love with the R55. Post up pics of your yoshi exhaust on your new k8. I have seen plenty of pics from the yoshi website. I like to see real pics from real owners

I don't think there has been many posts of owners adding yoshis yet. Your best bet is to search recent threads on the forums instead of asking all to re-post under your thread.

Yes you can leave them there. Most people ditch them for looks. Many use aftermarket hangers only on the right side IF their exhaust requires a bracket to support it. They get aftermarket ones for looks also. Most who don't ever have a passenger take them off as it cleans the bike up a bit.

do you know if the k8 r55's are quieter than the k6/k7 r55's? because i notice that huge black thing under the bike is there still there compared to the k6/k7 where it's replaced.

gwalks

Yes, I used the rear peg bolts and holes to mount plate holder. Can be fitted with or without rear foot pegs.
Its just a bit of 1" stainless angle, with the ends radiused to fit in between the pegs.
Took about and hour to make.

The TRC full system sounds wonderful. It has a nice deep tone between 4k - 7k and it don't scream on top end. My bike have a nice tone form 1st to 4th gears and in 5th it gets somewhat quiet but still nice. It's a very good pipe louder or deeper than the 06/07 slip on. You won't be disapointed!!!

Yeah, I installed the exhaust myself. THe o2 sensor fits into the exhaust appropriately; however, the instructions have you unplug the sensor from the main wiring harness and put in a dummy plug.

DmcBlaster
08-06-2008, 11:29 PM
So there is an O2 bung on yoshi full exhausts? I was looking at the R77 for my 600. I read the installation instructions for the R77 and if i remember right it didnt mention anything about the O2. It did talk about removing a wire for the SET.

I just installed the TRC last night and unfortunately am only 1/2 way done w/the PowerCommander install, so I don't know what it sounds like exactly. I did, however, start it up for a few minutes before I started with the PC3 and it sounded awesome at idle. That was with the baffle still in... F'n had no idea the PC3 was such a B**** to install.

The pipe has the o2 bung on it. I just installed the o2 sensor; however, the PC3 has you disable it at a different connection. You also remove the SET valve as well

Muttley

Just installed my TRC and PC3 yesterday.. got the exhaust from Motmummy and the PC3 from FuelMoto as they have a map for the TRC full....

I know.. I know ... I should get it dyno'd but wanted to buy other parts with the $300 of dyno money..

FYI: the Yosh instructions does'nt say anything about the o2 sensor but its pretty easy to figure out... besides the PC3 disabled my O2 anyways.... The hardest part was getting to those damn lower injectors... what a B...

Yeah those were a pain, but what about the getting the clip on the pink wire? I spent over an hour and hands bruised as hell trying to get that clip on. Then once I did the gray wire male clip was bent inside and wouldn't attach.... Gave up for the night on it at that point...

Your bike looks good though. Have you taken the baffle out yet, or did you leave it in?

92whitelx

Easiest way to get the clip on the pink wire is with a long set of needle nose pliers, Got on in two minutes.

Yeah , I did the same thing however I unplugged the cable from the tps module and clipped that t-tap on to the wire.

Muttley
08-08-2008, 01:11 AM
The baffle was un-installed when I received my trc... however I put it on to see what the difference was then I took it back off..... it was a b to put on. I had to use my low blow hammer to get it in....

Just an FYI... you can use the yoshi spring hook installer to take it off... it was quick.

As for the exhaust itself... I noticed that the power feels like it comes in earlier now when compared to my friends k8 600... but who knows till I get it dyno'd... You know exhausts go, sometimes it fools you to think you have more hp when you really don't..

All in all I'm very happy with the trc exhaust... I don't have to look at that whale penis suzuki calls an exhaust and I know for sure the bike is lighter... that old exhaust felt alot heavier.

i really don't noticed a big change in sound from the stock exhaust with a slip on. if your looking for sound you have go with a full pipe for the 08' or 06' 07' headers and a 06' 07' slip on (so the cat is no longer there)

Not exactly true. There are a handful of slips that make a difference in sound, just not Yoshi's. I got the M4 GP and its great! adds about 7-8db and much much deeper.

We need to get some sound clips going here........

I'm glad a checked this thread. I've been all gung-ho on the R-77 but the 'stock photo' of it looks much better than actual pics posted on here, the can looks really fat where-as the TRC looks much better.

I think the TRC in carbon fibre slip on is going to be the one for me....but I'm concerned about the sound being terrible. I just can't justify spending more than double for a full system though.

Are you serious? Ive NEVER heard of anyone having a problem with not having a CAT. Almost EVERY bike has an aftermarket exhaust that removes the CAT. Don't worry about it.

C. Edwards,

I am a full time college student with no income... I am getting the 08 for my birthday, I don't think I have the guts to ask my parents to throw in a full system exhaust :(

Cheers.

Im sure mommy and daddy would buy your spoiled bitch ass one. Just ask

can you keep the rear pegs with the R55 ?
most pics I have seen the rear pegs are gone.
yea bro u can. i have an r-55 full and my system uses an independant hanger to mount the can to the frame. you will have the option to run p/pegs or not. note****everybody thinks this system is quiet but let me assure you at high revs this bitch screams bloody murder.

Imho the best looking exhaust:

Why? Because nearly everyone seems to have the R-55 or R-77 stuff, and this one is looking really decent!!

Yes, yes I know but I don't want a full system. I did this for the look and not performance gains. 750 has enough power as-is :biggrin

Sorry guys, but didnt want to start another thread and got tired of listening to youtube videos on exhausts. Im considering the r-77 and the LeoVince sbk, both Full systems.
For those who have heard them in person which would u go with? Yosh is by far the cheapest but i am looking for performance for my k8 600.

Bringing this thread back from the dead.....'cuz I like searchin'! ;)

Anyways, I'm currently shopping around for exhaust options for my K9 750 and trying to decide whether to go just the slip-on route or a full exhaust (which will entail much more cost beyond the price of the exhaust i.e. tuning, etc...correct?). I'm getting too old for a constantly screaming tone but I would like something more aggressive. I've listened to a myriad of youtube clips but you can only get so much from them depending on the quality of the recording.

So a question for the full exhaust owners (TRC & R77), is the tone increase bearable? I don't want to wake up neighbours or give myself a migraine. I just want "the sound"...not too loud though.

I must say that I was leaning toward a TRC S/O but that tri-oval dual outlet can is starting to grow on me....

Keep the pix coming!

The best place for a full exhaust is the track. Thats where a full exhaust gets a couple more HP up top. The slip on gives your gains in the low and mid range areas. If your not racing, stick with a slip on and put the extra money toward other things.

Interesting...thanks for the input.
Besides the increased cost consideration of the full system and associated tuning, I'm leaning towards keeping the hated cat and using just a S/O for both environmental concerns (I don't need to dump more hydrocarbons into the air than is neccessary ;) )but more importantly performance. I read in all the mags that the mid-range increase for the K8/K9 is due in part to the exhaust scavenging capabilities of the OEM set up...along with DB level mitigation. So would I be doing more harm than good by going to a full system as well?

I think in the end, I'll just end up getting a S/O...more for cost than anything else...as long as I get some of the increased tone that I'm looking for...

A full system CAN rob low and mid power (small amounts) but thats not a concern when racing as the track bikes are always at the upper end of the range (where the full exhaust reaps the benefits). From what you want, a slip on is surely what your looking for.

The slip on gives your gains in the low and mid range areas.

That is true for the 06/07 bikes but not for the 08/09 as those slip-ons leave the cat in place. You will get no performance gains and almost no sound increase with an 08/09 slip-on.

Op, Check the exuast sticky threads above for some different options.

You can also do that with an aftermarket exhaust hanger bracket like the Evotech. Personally, I'm not a fan of the shorty pipe look....

Is this really true? I know that just a S/O will not give me the screaming GP bike DB increase (not what I want, anyways), but I suspect that I would get a considerable increase in tone/volume?
I had an '08 Kawi ZZR600 before my GSXR...and I had a Yosh RS-3 S/O. The OEM can was very quiet, but the RS-3 increased the volume and tone considerably. My point is that the only thing that I had changed on the ZZR was the can, everything before that to the header stayed the same...and I got a nice tone and increased volume.
I'd think I'd get similar results with my GSXR? I had pulled off the OEM can on it and it was pretty loud/throaty (at least to my older ears ;) )...so I'm thinking that a freer flowing can would yield similar results....no? Or am I high off my ass?:hammer

you sir, are high off your ass. :p

hahaha, jk dood.

i had the R55 slip-on and it was maybe 1-2 dB louder than stock. it's the cat that kills the sound unfortunately.

I've gone with the full R55 now and i love the sound of it (even though it's a bit on the loud side IMO).

the cat acts as a baffle on the '08/09. :) hope that makes sense!

I installed an R55 slip on about a week ago. Sound increase wasn't much, but it was noticeable. After riding for a week, it got slightly louder. You won't notice much at high RPM, due to the exhaust being drowned out by the motor, but you will notice a bit more volume and rumble at lower rpms.
