I can't seem to find where to buy the new Tank protector from for my new '08 GSXR 750. It's not listed on Suzuki's site. Anyone care to share?

[edit] found the one, but don't know where to find...

Yes, they are Genuine Suzuki Accessories. Photographs were taken by me in the back parking lot at the Brea corporate office.

The Center Pad. Thanks. But the one in the picture you showed is not the one I'm looking for. I thought I saw a new one that was designed differently, but I can't seem to find a pic for it anywhere now.

I think you may have seen the following "winged" tank pad designed for the K7/K8 1000. Unfortunately, these accessories will not fit the 750/600.

Nope, that wasn't it. It was the same size as the other one, but shaped way differently. It had parts going in all kinds of directions. It looked kinda "Alien"ish

IMO tank protector should be one piece, otherwise crap and scratches will get in the spaces. Additionally, the Suzuki stckers look a little cheap and those puffy stickers of my youth. Love Suzuki, but the tank pads and fuel protector stickers do not match the level of craftmanship that the bike has. I do not want to detract from the looks of my bike, but rather enhance it. Why do carbon fiber "look alikes" have to look so un-carbon?

Try a 3m tank protector from tankslapper.com
-they make clear stickers that cover your tank....center & sides about "file folder thick" or like 2mm or so.
-they make clear kits that cover almost every inch of your bike for the K7 and almost have they K8 body kit soon.

I just bought the two tank kits
-sticky for $29.99 (thicker)
-non sticky $14.99 (reusable!)

http://www.thetankslapper.biz/online-store/scstore/main.htm

(I did not get my bike wet......I used towels under and around my tank)
(use a super soft "no scratch" piece of material duct taped over your included squeege tool).

They are awsome........
the sticker needs to be wet w/ a couple drops of baby shampoo & 8oz. of water to slide around to get "placement" and to keep finger print off.
The wetness helps push air pockets out as you lay the sticker...its like window tint, but on curves ond thicker!
The thing will stick very well when the air is out.

I will post some pics soon on my blue white K8 750
-The tank looks stock and beautiful! (protected too)
-I can rip it off and do it again whenever I order again.
-soon I will get some of this material under my rear tail to protect my paint.
....I can just rip it off each season when it gets ugly:cheers

I looked at a ton of stick on Pad protectors and nothing seemed to offer that great of protection. The 3M ones are good but for the price difference I went with a tank bra from Suzuki. It protects the tank, as well as offering you much better grip when you squeeze the tank with your legs. My bike is the Black/Orange 750 and you can hardly notice it as it flows with the black on the tank.

Didnt even use the non sticky reusable protectors yet....
The 3m (sticky)Tankslapper protectors (choose bike year& model) are awsome.
Use GOO-Gone for old sticky residue or spray wax/road grime remover.
-Honda used to make an awesome product.

-We tried the identical looking (ingregients)can spray from Harley D. believe it not it was watered down!:lol
-The damn foreign stuff wooped ass....
You would have thought that some Harley D. product would be all USA proud and stuff, but oops:cheers cheers to Honda and their spray that is no longer found.
-there is some other brand that is out now. click below

i got this one...

I just emailed Clever wolf cw@cwr.co.jp and received my carbon fiber tank protector. Took about a week and cost $72 OTD with shipping to US. They have limited supplies and it is a very popular so they are selling fast and they are made in batches so you may or may not have to wait a little time for the next batch to be made. Excellent quality and looks much better and protects a lot better than those puffy stickers. Anyway if you can wait a week or two and have $72, I highly recommend it as it will protect your tank and enhance rather than detract from the looks of your ride as those puffy stickers do.

Just wanted to second the props to CleverWolf. Took some time as they had to make some new ones, but the product is great. Perfect fit and finish, its true CF, feels great and very strong. One of the details I love most is that from certain angles, because of the weave I got, you cant see it. Almost chameleon you might say. These are some rough pictures to give you an idea what she looks like. They really don't do it justice though!

Davismi
07-05-2008, 08:21 AM
I'd also like to know how they are attached to the tank, some kind of adhesive backing on the carbon fibre or do you need to glue it onto the tank with a certain glue product? I just emailed them and they told me the plain weave is instock right now and that the twill or diagonal weave will be ready in a few weeks. Im in Australia and they told me it would cost 6090 yen for the plain weave and 7140 yen for the twill weave. Shipping is 1680 yen so i converted the prices into Aussie dollars and it works out to be just under $60 for the plain weave and just under $70 for the twill weave, the shipping will cost me just under $17. Looks like im gonna order one.

Paid credit card and the cool thing is that they never reply back to your email with the credit card number and always start a new email so your info is not bouncing back and forth. Took me 2 weeks to get mine, because they were backordered. Great service and always replied back to me on a daily basis.

I was also a little hesitant about emailing the info, but now I have the protector and I have not seen any extra charges and stuff. Since everyone else just makes puffy stickers and not real nice looking CF like the CW one, it is the only way to go. After all, how much protection is the maxi pad thin puffy sticker going to do? It only protects a couple inches in the center.

My buddy got the exact same center pad as in the pic you posted, but he got it at a local bike shop in san jose the same day he got his bike. So maybye one of your local shops can order it for you.

i would say the white one looks better. I've been looking around for a tank protector with some blue in it. the one you are showing is nice but I wish the GSXR logo was blue instead of red. The only concern I have is if this tank protector gets dirty easily. Does anybody have this white tank protector and is able to comment on it...?

yeah that's one of the things i am concerned about.. that and how it would look ON the bike ya know. i know how the black one looks from the OP picture he has it on my bike's colors. helps out a lot haha. if anyone is in the mood to photoshop the white pad onto a white/silver tank, be my guest!!! then again i like the black one cause it stand out and brings the side cf panels out too but the white brings out the blue.. idk

When I get home from work today, I'll snap a pic of mine. Its not the same as the one you have there. But I think you'll like it. I also have a white/silver k8 600. Its a suzuki pad too.

Ok Air Force Itch guy...

I believe its called the speedvision or some crapola. The pad is actually clear so its the tanks color that comes through it. The black and the red are the only colors that come on it. I like it quite a bit.

I'll snap better shots outside tomorrow or something. For now, those garage shots will have to suffice. :cheers

I think you may have seen the following "winged" tank pad designed for the K7/K8 1000. Unfortunately, these accessories will not fit the 750/600.

Do you think the "winged" pad would fit the k8 750 if moded? where at or how doesnt it fit cause i was about to buy one to fit on my 750??

The upper portion of the tank where the pad begins its "wings" is not the same dimension for both the 1000 and 750/600. 1000 is pictured below on the left and 750 on the right.

LOL! I have a same bike in a same color and same helmet! :)

How's everyone? I'm new to the forum and am looking for a tank pad/protector. I ride a black/orange k8 750. It seems, based on the responses, that the clever wolf carbon tank pad is the best bet. Just wanted to get some opinions on how you guys think it would look with my color bike. I was also thinking about going with possibly the Suzuki bra or their carbon tank pad. But, as has been mentioned, the suzuki tank pad doesn't cover as much area. Is the CW one an actual "pad" or just just a protector? Thanks : )
