Does anyone know whether CUT frame sliders for the 06-07 will work with the 08? I got 2 different answers from Lockhart Phillips themselves so I'm a bit skeptical about drilling into the the fairing until I get confirmation or proof that the 06-07 CUT sliders will work on the 08. Thanks in advance.

K6-K7 sliders will work on the K8 models, but don't rely on the instructions to get the job done - cutting points are different. The K8 fairings are mirror opposites of one another - use the pre-existing hole on the right fairing to make the cut on the left fairing...or use the tried-and-true method of marking the drill point with Play-Doh and the supplied bolt from the slider kit.

Instructions? What are those? lol.. thanks for the input. I'm going to use the laser pointer method if anything. Worked on my old one like a charm. Still a little iffy about everything though. Lockhart Phillips shows 2 different part numbers but I really don't see why it wouldn't work.

I know for a fact that Suzuki's K6-K7 parts will fit K8 models. You can't go wrong with OEM + they were engineered by Yoshimura.

Well, I just installed them. I was a little nervous about drilling, but I did it anyway. 06-07 CUT frame sliders WILL work. I will post pictures up later as soon as I go home.

I have managed to fit 06/07 frame sliders to 08 750 the right hand side is the same to fit but the left side spacer was too short so when tightened bolt up it pulled slider into fairing, so made an 8mm spacer aswell as the one supplied to fit evenly.

What's the laser pointer method?

Laser pointer - Remove the fairing. Measure the distant from a level ground up to the engine bolt where you want to install the slider. Use a laser pointer at a distant back (5-10 ft.. whatever) as long as it's the same distance that you measured to insure a straight line. Point the laser at the bolt and somehow keep it on. ( I used duct tape and taped my laser pointer to a spare stand. ) With the laser pointer still on pointing at the engine bolt, put the fairing back on. The laser will now mark itself on the fairing where you need to drill. Then drill safely.

I know it's not the most detailed instructions, but it's a rough idea of how it's done.

So if the distance from the ground up to the bolt is 2 ft, the laser pointer should be above the ground 2 ft as well.

The other thing ive seen done are cross hatch lasers, they put a beam line down on the bike, can tape one to the handle bars and one to the ground, creates a cross point right over where you need to drill, pretty easy, pretty much the same process though.

not all parts will fit.

Yes, all parts from the Genuine Suzuki K6/K7 kits (p/n 990A0-63014-BLK and 990A0-63014-WHT) will fit the K8 models. New installation instructions were made available to all Suzuki dealers yesterday. NOTE: The only difference between the two kits are the templates. The new installation instructions detail exactly where the cut is to be made on both the old and new fairings. PM me should you have any additional questions.

The dealer sold me the k7 vortex sliders and said they've been installing them on k8's all year. i hope i'm not thread jackin...So, this is my first bike but i've been taking cars apart forever. i don't unscrew anything without knowing the torque specs needed to put it back on. i haven't put my sliders on yet cuz the only service manual i can find is for the k7. Are the torque specs the same? Pardon the noob question but i'm trying to wrap my car wrenchin skills around a motorcycle and i'm feeling kinda clueless...thanks

So i go those Woodcraft ones and it says that the long base goes on the left side, that so? I tried to fit the short base on the right side and it won't fit through the hole without cutting and the long base one seems like it'll be too long on the right side. I'm still waiting to put them on cuz I want to cut it pretty like and I don't have anything to cut it with but I wanna make sure they're on the correct side too...

The long base DOES go on the left. cutting both sides is a must as well. You need a 2" hole cutting drill attachment. The pics were taken just after replacing fairings to check the fit, since then i cleaned them up the holes are sanded and look flawless

sweet, thanks man. That looks really good, did you have any problems lining up the holes to cut? It looks like you got a tight fit in there, I hope I don't have to cut a few times to get it right...

I used the play dough method and the left side was actually easier. on the right side, i covered the stock hole in duct tape (both should be covered b4 using the "hole" bit) and poked a hole through where the center lined up. I braced a piece of wood behind it so the drill tip went through the tape and would catch it so it wouldn't skate across the fairing, worked like a charm. as long as you you a 2" hole bit that has a drill bit in the center of it, it'll work well. take your time and have someone there to hold the fairing down.

Nice, I just put em on, it was pretty easy. I cut the holes a little too low so the fairing rests on the sliders a little now but not enough to cause any problems from what I can see for now. I didn't have any play doh but I measured a few times and drilled the hole in the center and then fit the fairing back on to see the holes line up, they did so I finished drilling and fit it back together. I took pic but I can't post them cuz my computer's a little tarded up....

not really sure, have you looked to see where the mounting bolts are on the race rails? I don't think they changed the frame very much, at least they didn't say they did as far as I know. The plastics were definately changed tho, you might have to cut more of that away if it's made for the 06/07's.
