My Tachometer just died on me. it is sort of fluttering but not giving me the right readings.
Does anyone know, how I can fix the problem? I thought it was just a cable, but I can't find any info on it from the service manual. Thanks in advance.

Check the connections going to the computer on the main wiring harness to make sure that they are all tight and making good contact. I think the tach wire is black/red tracer, I might be wrong though. Then check behing the tach display where the wires terminate and make sure it's three wire thing is connected good. Also might be a good idea to check the harness connection that feeds all of the dash things. It has a bunch of wires for the lights/tach/temp gauge. Sounds like you have something loose. Or your tach might just be about to die.

hey mate i just wen't through that a couple of months ago. i took my fluke meter home and spent half a saturday morning checking the wiring with the shop book. i thought it was something in the wiring since it tried to register some readings even though i knew it was reading wrong. it turned out to be the tach going bad. then a couple of days later it died. i found one on e-bay for 50.00 plus shipping. problem solved. even though i have a oil cooler the price shouldn't be that much different. good luck.

I don't think you will get a reply. You posted in a six year old thread.
