Thanks for reading this... new on here and not sure really how alll this works. Just recently got 1000 k2 but would really like to have a fuel gauge put on. Does anyone know if this is possible? Best site to purchase and is it easy to fit? On have red light to say low fuel.
Thanks for any help

Most bikes now rely on the rider to estimate how much fuel he or she has in the tank, at least R bikes. The sensor is set to go on when your in need of fuel, and it should give you a good 30-40 miles of travel before you run dry. Don't quote me on that.

Some older bikes had a float system that read to a gauge on the tank cap, similar to that of a lawnmower, but I dont know of any that would be compatable with your bike.

There might be a digital fuel gauge out there somewhere, but I would say the retrofit alone would be quite difficult and have hardly any effect. You also have to worry about the usual issues, like fuel sloshing around in the tank, which would throw a float system to hell, and adding electronic sensors to the tank is probably not the safest idea.

The best idea is to plot your mileage on a full tank, set a trip meter, do it for a few fill-ups until your light comes on and get an average. Then set the trip every fill and you can tell by mileage alone how far you have left before your probably going to have to stop. I have done it that way for years, and it helps, because you never know when that light will fault or fail.. Then your left high and dry miles from home.

Or you could try this (http://www.veypor.com/veypor.html)thing.

Hi,

I have a problem with fuel sensor too :suicide

I am rebuilding a Grsr 1100k : http://cid-05da66c0036542d4.photos.live.com/browse.aspx/GsxR%201100%20Rebuild

And i am installing this speedometer :
http://kosoeurope.com/shop/images/product_images/popup_images/571_0.jpg

The problem is that on the bike there is only a fuel low signal and no gauge.
I need to change the original sensor :
Number 12 : http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/model_years/4187-suzuki-1990-GSX-R1100/assemblies/128247

By one who can give the level like this one :
http://s3performance.com.au/fuel-sender-with-waterproof-connector-acets-p-57.html

The speedometer works with 100 Ω · 510 Ω resistances.

It seems that i may have to cut a bigger hole for fit that kind of sensor,
if i have to drill the tank for the mounting screws, what do i have to use for the fixation ? is this good enough ?

Or maybe a more recent Gsxr sensor will fit in my model k 89 tank without modifications...

Please advise what will be the best.

Thanks for you help :scratch
