Help me out here.. I have my bike done. I am using a 95 750 harness and a 93 750 key. I tried to convert the 4 plug old key with a 6 plug end and I can't get it to work. When I stick a 95 key on it runs fine! Has anyone ever converted this thing! I can't ride because of this crap! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

If you take the ignition apart, you should be able to remove the cylinder from the old one and transplant it into the other one. I have done this and it works.

Thanks! I was going to try that but I don't want to mess with my 10+ year old thing and mess it up. Here's what I did and found the solultion - I had an 6 plug broken switch so I drilled the bottom bolts out and removed the bottom cover like you said. Thats where I found out it uses the ground loop as I suppose a theft deterant so you can't just hot wire the bike. I removed the capaciter or whatevers its called and soldered on some wires and sliced them into the switch leads. Hell yeah! It works! I might be brave and actually drill my old on out. Whats a good technic?

Um... I seem to remember trying this trick on the ignition-cylinders that you had lyin' around, Bobby... it didn't work, remember? I dunno if maybe it's because one of yours was OEM and the other was aftermarket or what... but when we tried to swap em out so that you could use one key for the whole bike, I remember that I couldn't get it to fit. Remember?

Hey, I'm new to this site and I need help too! I lost my key to my bike and my duma.. doesn't have a spare.

Is the cylinder on the gas tank lock the same as the ignition key cylinder?

Will my gas tank lock be the same and can a locksmith make a key out of it that will work on the ignition too? It was the same key before!

I can save about half as much $ if I take it to him already off of the bike.

If not, how hard is it to get the actual ignition off to take it to him?

Dont locksmith. If you give them your vin or give them something they can look up the key in the computer and just Copy you one without anything..Did that a few years ago with my car..Lost my only car key..Gave them the Vin and he just gave me a new one in about 10 mins..

Wow! I have been playing 1-key Russian Roulette for 2 years now. Last Thursday I had an extra key made. I feel for you guys. I think anyone reading this who only has 1 key for their bike really should get an extra right away. I had to pay $16 for a key blank but that is cheap compared to the money spent and aggravation a lost key causes. Just my 2 cents.
