Hey guys, I recently bought a white k8 gixxer 6 and I am looking into getting from frame sliders just in case. The problem lies in the fact that I really don't want to cut into the frame to get to the bolt on the left side. I know there are "no cut" ones but I wasn't sure everyones thoughts on those. I thought I read somewhere else that they didn't work as well or something? If so are the really ineffective or just slightly? Also, I didn't know if the year mattered with those, I figure the 06/07 sliders should work just fine but I'm not sure. Let me know...Thanks!

Also, my friend told me that it is better to get the plastic type ones instead of complete metal. He said the plastic has less traction and will be less likely to tumble the bike if it falls at higher speeds. It makes sense but I wasn't sure. Thanks!

i wouldnt buy metal sliders at all. Some are skeptical about cuts and no-cuts. Some say that no-cuts brake much easier, while the cuts provide a more safe wreck.. Ive always used no-cuts and thank god not had to test them.

the no cuts are not as "direct" as the cuts, but they do protect very very well still. With so many variables and aspects to a crash it's hard to say. I would say that cuts will protect a little bit better but if it's worth possibly being harder to sell, something you can't really take off w/o getting new plastics, etc? Is it worth that little bit of extra protection they give? I don't know honestly and only you can answer that. Personally if it was a track bike I would go cut sliders, but on the street I would probably go with no cuts to be honest.
Most metal sliders I wouldn't recommend either with the exception of LSL as they are made incredible well with delrin on the ends, softer metal so they don't transfer as much energy, etc. In fact I think the LSL's are probably some of the best made sliders out there the way they are designed...
Also remember that they are just a safe guard and are not guaranteed to protect anything as every crash is different. with that said looks, price, removeability, etc, all come into play based on your opinion, needs, and wants.

Ok sounds good. Well since it's a brand new bike I think I'm going to get no cuts. If I feel after a while that the cut ones would work better I can do that, but I think it would be better to be safe since you can always get the cut ones later. I also think I'll get the derlin ones since they seem to be the better ones. Anyone know any good websites to get them from, or just look on eBay? Also does it matter if they are '07 ones considering that they should just bolt in right? Thanks
