: From 1st to Neutral in a wheelie

Yesterday I ripped a wheelie in 1st gear and it went into neutral, which made me smash my balls against the tank really hard. Just wondering if anyone has ever had this happen to them.

you hit the rev limiter, thus sending you into neutral to prevent damage to the motor. Before your revs get that high, you might want to practice shifting into second so that you can ride them longer.

eh really? I've hit the rev limiter running the quarter mile, and it didn't go into neutral, is it just cuase he was in first?

Also if it wasn't in gear all that well it can do that, also one small slight touch of the shifter right when you are blipping the throttle to try and hold the wheelie up can do it to. i did it to much when i was doing clutch wheelies in first.

hitting the rev limiter has never made my bike go into neutral before so its not that.

did you try shifting while doing the wheelie, and what setup is your shifter, if you flipped you may have tapped it into N by accident.

i've run the bike into the rev limiter (unfortunately) on several occasions, and i swear it kicked it into neutral.

the rev limiter won't put the bike in nuetral. All it does is cut spark and fuel.

Your toe, however, will easily put you in nuetral. Most likely, this is the cause http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Everyone's accidentally toed into nuetral at least once wheelying.

did it go into neutral or just lose power? if you smacked the rev limiter and it cut out all the power, that would create your ball smashing scenerio.

i've actually had it kick out of gear and NOT go in to neutral. It went into some cyber space and just wasn't in anything. Then it made a nice grinding grunting noise as i tried to kick it into gear http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Otherwise known as a false neutral.

Sometimes I wonder if you fools read the damn topic to these posts - http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/flipa.gif j/j
The topic goes he found a neutral doing a wheelie in first, while that's pretty damn odd.... and it's also odd to find a neutral while running first gear to red line and back a million times like some have mentioned, frankly I dont believe Suzuki designed any saftey feature to throw it into neutral- lol- .....Maybe the poster mislead us and forgot to mention he shifted to second , or simply went to shift to second and never made it there thus finding neutral which isn't uncommon either http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif So to the poster, if you shifted to second and it dropped into neutral you werent high enough to be shifting, had too much load on the gears or simply pussy footed it and it never made it to second or if it did it barely did then popped into neutral. Nothing out of the ordinary happened to you, practice some more http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

I hit the rev limiter in 1st plenty of times when I was learning to wheelie and on the odd occasion when I did come down it ended up in nuetral - as soon as you hit the limiter you will proabably come down hard so maybe in the process of coming down hard and busting your balls, you tapped the shifter and it popped in to nuetral -its happened to me http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

u stil get neutral, it can slip out from 2nd and it can do that whole false neutral thing i was talking about. How about no more slamming down, cause u bust seals and rims. And how about balanceing it about 8-10 grand or less if your skilled enough. I've ridden a mile long 3rd gear and had it slip out of gear on dismount. Just gotta make sure its all the way in and not to slam her down.

I havent been able to get her up in second. Can't get her past that crucial point. Throttle or clutching it so I ordered myself a 520 chain and changed my gearing. And if I wanted to shift into second how would you recomend doing it. Fast clutch into second??? I have no idea how and I really dont want my bike lying on top of me.

then don't worry about shifting. First rather learn to get 1st up at the lowest speed you can and be able to control it at a decent heighth. If you don't learn this first you'll be concentrating so much on trying to learn to shift you won't be paying attention to your safety. Which will obviously lead to a bad episode. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif just take your time u'll get it.

or hit an open area at 60 and try and bounce 2nd gear up.
