I've done the mod, know it works, but I just don't see the big difference in power. I know it is done correctly because I can see the difference in RPM while switching it off and on which is most noticable when is still cold at first start up. This is only about a 50 rpm drop when on and rise when turned off. Could it be that the timing map on the 03 isn't the same as for earlier models? When the engine is warmed up, there is virtually no difference in rpm with switch off or on. Anyone else have the same problem? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wtf.gif

I think you hooked it up wrong or have the wrong resistor in it. I have read that it is supposed to go up or down 3-5000 in rpm..don't quote me on that though.

I just put mine on my 1K3 last week and rode with it over 250 miles of twisties this weekend.

It did not add noticable power but what it did do was smooth out the throttle response. Anything that lets me enter and exit the twisties smoother is a very good thing! I believe that this is all it is suppose to do except at the very high RPM in the first three gears.... I don't ride at the red line on the street... But instead of entering the corners at 5-6000rpm to keep the throttle smooth I can now do in at +8000 and have the same exact "feeling" .

This is just my observations not ment to be any more than that....

I love this bike! Easyest bike to ride fast of any I have ever ridden.... feel that I have a larger saftey margin even though I am riding significantly faster than on my 98 750... the control is amazing...

Yeah, what he said! It's not like it adds 10 hp or something. If that's what you're expecting, you will be sadly disappointed. It improves driveabilty and throttle response, and makes it more snappy at lower revs in the lower gears. But it's a subtle change, not night and day.

Some say it helps regain some of the lost bottom end when removing the SET valve with a slip-on or full exhaust. I dunno about that, as I had the TRE on before my pipe, and haven't tried it without. At any rate, I haven't noticed any loss of power down low.

Thanks guys,

Actually I was comparing my bike to the results that Bugman details on his web site. His confirmation check of the mod has RPM changes of 700 -
to 1000 RPM at idle and 1000-1500 RPM change from beginning at 3000 RPM when the clutch lever is pulled in. Mine dosn't do that at all. I know
that Bugman's mods are on earlir model gixxers and thus why I inquired. I know I have the right resister, (measured it myself) and going to the right
wires. I do this sort of thing on airplanes for a living. If anyone has done this on an 03 model and gets the kind of revs that Bugman does, let me
know, then I will know I've obviously done something wrong.

Thanks, Dan http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I just ordered a JSD and should get it in a day or two. I'll let you know what I get out of it.

Hey

I put a JSD or TRE on my 03 1k at first evrything ran fine real smooth. After the install did the Rev check to see if the Revs drop when you pull in the clutch. They did dropped from 2000 down to like 500. After about 2 weeks the bike didn't feel as smooth as it did before. So I tried the Rev check again to see if it was working. The revs never dropped they stayed at 2 grand.
Even Had JeffW help me trouble shoot the JSD.All seems fine.

So now I am wondering could there be something different on the 03. I just wish I had that smooth throttle back I have a 1/5 throttle on my 1k and it gets a little touchie.Ok it's real Touchie.
