Well I had to drive FOUR HOURS to get the damn thing, but I finally got it. So far I have 17 miles on the bike (it started pouring, just my luck haha) and I LOVE the bike. I had an 06 GSXR 600 before this one and I think I am going to like the 08 more...I really need to ride more before I decide though.

Very nice bike. I like the color, I would of picked the same scheme. Good luck with it. Let us know how it compares to the k6 as I still have mine. I figure to keep it for a couple more years.

I paid $8199 for the bike OTD. (not including tax, but everything else, this place was CHEAP)

OMG, i was in switzerland (geneva) casual rideing, and today they received white k8 600, first one in switzerland! i just stumbled off the seat

so i rushed back to france to my store, they say tuesday. but i bought a black tank sticker.. u know the grippy stickers near your crotch.. for the tank, the stickers have a new cool style.. kinda spacey but nice

Update from the twisties!

I just got back from riding the twisties today and it was AWESOME.

I was initially worried about the seat as it is so narrow, but it is ample and my ass doesnt hurt at all after a few hours of riding. The tank has bigger indentions for your legs than the 06 did, so your hips dont get sore at all. (I broke mine so it always hurts)

The power is substantially greater than the 06. There is much more mid range.

The best part is the throttle. Finally, a gixxer 600 that goes as soon as you twist the throttle. There is NO LAG at all, my 06 would hesitate for about half a second after you twist the throttle and it drove me insane, I hated it. This new bike is exactly the way it should be.

the front brakes felt a little weak though, but I am not sure if that is because they are so brand new. My 06 definately felt better.

The pipe is 1/2 as loud as the 06, it is a much quiter pipe and I wish it was a bit louder. It is really cool to hear all the engine noise though.

The new bridgestone tires are awesome, they heat up fast, and they stick like mad.

Other than the brakes, the bike is leaps and bounds better than the 06, its an amazing machine.

the brakes should get better, id say, well first service is 1000km on most bikes which is a bit over 600 miles. give it another 600 after first service and the brakes should be perfect

I also heard that o8 has much more pull in the MID but i am still waiting for mine :-(
Brakes should be better once pads are seated properly and broken into the rotors ..

Give them some heat cycles ... Drag them for a bit ... let it cool down and then drag again ... use some brake cleaer to clean the rotors and they should feel much better

If you were riding dirt like you should be instead of sitting home thinking about a new streetbike it would matter. I think I spotted an 08 750 down here in FL, maybe you should drive down to pick it up.

Everyone else can ignore this, the 750's are not out yet - early April from what I have heard.

When you say that the 08 bike is "leaps and bounds" better than the 06, it again gets me thinking of that thread about trading in a 06/07 600 for an 08. If what you say is true, I just might consider it! Is it really that much better?? :scratch

Very nice bike. I looked at them and I didnt see an overall difference between the k7 and k8 other than the k8 looks shorter in length and the new intakes. Enjoy that midrange!

the sport mode is normal, the other mode is good to warm up tires on track days, or commuting, and wet mode is good for the rainy and winter months

That white looks sick...i saw it at the DC cycle show and loved it. We have a black 08 at the local dealer but I think the white looks better. I noticed u said the tank has more of a indentation. Is it compareable to the R6 or the CBR600? Thats one thing i liked more in the honda's and yamaha's they have that nice indention to tunk ur legs into.

apparently this years, indent to tuck ur legs in, is the best they ever done, and alot better

man ,I went to my local dealer today. All I can say is Damn. The white is the best looking out of all. But from all the pics of the new k8 gixxer. the pipe in person isn't all that bad looking. I was to expect to leave the dealer lmao. I am inpressed with the over all looks of the k8 600. No 750's though....but still alot of 600,750 ,1000 k7's left..

UPDATE

I just got back from a 6 hour ride today. It was 65 degrees and bright sunshine. The bike flat kicks ass. I do have to say that after 6 hours I am in a bit of pain. Lowe back is kind of sore, but my seat is great and has plenty of cushion. The new tires are amazing. They are incredibly sticky and I like them better than the Pilot Powers. I love almost everything about the bike....except the front brakes! The brakes still suck ass, I got on my buddies 07 600rr and his brakes are infinately better than my bike. Irritating.

The wheels stay clean for about 3 miles, after they they are dirty.:lol I tried to battle it and I am already at the "fuck it" stage. I will clean them once a week, but not every day like I have been doing, its just too much work. I absolutely love the bike, its everything I wanted it to be.

im so jealous i got a k8 white, but it snowed like crazy day before it arrived and i live 10km up a mountain, so i wont dare even take it from the store yet..

think a extra set of rims would be cool anyway, keep street tyres with whatever i like (black) and keep the track tyres on the white rims

i was at my dealership this past weekend and they had a K8 600 black sitting there waiting for an owner. It's nice but its not as hot as the white Gixxer. White is too unique... with a few more mods, it'll look even better. I can't wait to pick mine up damnit... The white rims are probably impossible to keep clean... Maybe I'll get a set of blue rims.... It'll match up with the blue R on the side...

yeh i always dreamed on black gixxer, but since new ones are white i get it for its unique factor.. if this was 1 year ago id be getting black k7 for sure.

I am doing my 600 mile service tomorrow. I am absolutely in love the with bike and the brakes feel TONS better now. I guess they just needed to be broken in.

The white wheels are one giant pain in the ass, they stay clean for about 3 miles.:banghead....but they look so sexy for those 3 miles.:biggrin

I rode for about 3 hours today but it was 36 degrees outside so I decided to come back home...it just got too cold to feel comfortable in the twisties. The tires are the best tires I have ridden on, I truly do like them better than the pilot powers. I am breaking this bike in by the book and not ripping it up past 8k is killlllllling me. I cant wait to get my oil changed.
