: How do you get the front rim off!!
gimpsta 09-17-2003, 01:08 PM Ok its a 2002 so I've been informed that its different from the '01's. I don't have the tool to fit in the front axel and I don't know what to do. I was suppose to take my front rim and forks to the shop to get them fixed. Anyone know how to get the front rim off a 02 gix 6? yes I've got it up on a triple tree stand so I can remove the forks safely.
njracer 09-17-2003, 01:42 PM Don't know the size but you need one bolt and two nuts from Home Depot. Find a bolt that fit's inside the big allen wrench kinda hole. Then take the two nuts that fit the bolt and thread them on. You now can remove the big stupid axel. To remove the axel, use a wrench on the bolt closest to the axel and the one further away to tighten it up. Got it???

BTW - Should only cost ya a few $'s

gimpsta 09-17-2003, 11:07 PM what's circuit one? I mean yea I'm all about the chepo way as long as it works, which I know i will. But it might be quicker and more effective for all my other gixxer buddies if I actually have the tool. Is circuit one on line or something? Man i didn't think getting the forks off would be this complicated, sure beats what it would cost to let them do it though at the shop. Plus you get to bond with your bike http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
moviescar600 09-17-2003, 11:41 PM 14.00 from www.whitebuffaloracing.com (http://www.whitebuffaloracing.com) or it used to be 14 anyways. its actually a adapter for a 19mm socket/wrench
gimpsta 09-18-2003, 10:53 AM awesome it was $14 and I thin i will charge money to everyone that I let use this instead of letting them take it to the shop. Now in the mean time i have to get a nut from the store for 2 bucks to get this thing off my bike NOW, so i can get it fixed asap. thx for the info all!!
jetpilot8 09-18-2003, 08:44 PM You probably already did, but you may want to do a search on here....I remember a few weeks ago this exact same topic was going on and a bunch of peeps posted pix, sizes the best types of bolts to use etc etc...so you may wanna check that out too....if you have not already of course, but I do know it was recently discussed.....
GOOD LUCK! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

gimpsta 09-19-2003, 10:26 PM ha kewl, well i got a bolt and nut 24mm that is. I got two nuts to lock up against each other. But the socket wrench isn't going to work, cause i need to turn the inside nut not the outside one. So know i have to get a regular 24mm wrench. But like i said the tool from circuit1 is on its way already. so is a stronger stator cover that is suppose to be a heck of a lot stonger then the stock one. Is it for real or am i waisting my money? $100 bucks for it. i got it cause mine is banged up and has some deep grooves in it, so i'm worried about it.
2k2telefonica 09-20-2003, 01:11 AM Just use a big ass cresent wrench http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
joonix 10-05-2003, 03:12 PM If you haven't got it out yet. I took me 10 minutes and I never did it before. If you have front lift great, if don't use two car jacks. Unlock two screws on the bottom of the fork, right side only. Make sure you take the brake calipers complete out of the disks. With the big wrench unlock the axal nut, (counterclockwise), and pull out the wheel, that's it.
gimpsta 10-05-2003, 10:55 PM Hey thanks yeah i got it off. I used a big bolt with two nuts that were the same size as the whole. 02's and newer don't have a nut. Its all internal. But now I have the tool i got from on line for 11 bucks or so. I used it to tighten it back on and it worked beautfuly. Anyhow thanks for all the advice.
Doubler8 10-06-2003, 03:34 PM What tool are you talking about that you got for $11?
Did you buy it online? Do you have alink?
Thanks

yes just hunt around at this website till you find what your looking for. You'll still need a 24mm socket to fit around it so you can put it inside your axel.
gimpsta 10-07-2003, 01:26 AM just to make it quicker....
click on the link, look at the bottom left and click on "Products"
then go about midway down the list of companies listed and click on "Circuit 1"
In the middle of the page it should say Axel tools, Case Covers. Click on Axel Tools.
Oh yeah and it was 14.00 sorry http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
gimpsta 10-07-2003, 01:29 AM Then of coarse it will take you to a new web page where you can purchase it. I'd just click on the axel tool link, then they link marked Buy Online....
Then at the new web page just go to the bottom left and click on search. type in axle tool
not axel tool!! AXLE too. I say this cause I kept misspelling it. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I'm sure you can do the rest.
