My brother-in-law bought a wrecked Tl1000R and hes looking for plastics and the headlight assembly. Any ideas where a good place to buy this from online?

For a TL you don't have many options really. You can try a dealer, maybe an online one like oneidasuzuki.com or ronayers.com I don't know if either still sponsors the site.

You can also get an aftermarket replacement from Sharkskinz, but it'll need fitting, a paint job, etc. I see some TL's out there with race glass and a cut in headlight, endurance racing style.

Other than that, it's eBay.

Thanks for the info. Do you need a steering damper on this bike? It's missing and I wasn't sure if it came with one stock or not. This is his first bike and I'm sure hes going to wreck it. I've tried talking him into buying something smaller but hes a dumbass. I've found about $2K in parts he needs so far. Oh well

The TLR does come with a stock damper. The damper rides right up on top of the triples with a mount next to the tank. I think it really does help.

It shouldn't be that hard to find a damper on eBay or maybe the classifieds here that should fit just fine.

I don't consider the TL first bike material, but if he insists, you can't stop him.

My brother is an expert rider by most standards, and he's put his down a few times now.

I don't think that he plans on buying the damper for it. I can't seem to get it in his head that this bike is a powerful machine that could hurt you if you dont know how to use it. He just wants to look cool. I bet he'll look real cool after he wastes 1200 on fairings and destroys them the first week. Plu sI dont think hes going to tak emy advice and tak ethe MSF class. We are starting to put the wire harness on this weekend but I think we may have some issues with the ignition. Is it normal for the front fork seals to leak? I'm wondering if his forks are bent from the wreck it was in. They look ok but I can't tell. All I need is my in-laws bitching at me because his dumbass wanted a bike and ha dto start with a Tiller.

If rides with no damper he will be looking for a another bike soon, progressive insurance has a Fact Page, Top 10 motorcycles crashed, by percentage. No 1-GSXR 1000 No 2 TLR, both come with a stock damper, do the math. I own both of these bikes, they are the only bikes I have never crashed on so I feel very luckey indeed.

I suck at searching. Can you post the link on the progressive site ?

I just had a TLR. The damper looks just like the one on my k4 600, you'd just need the 2 spacers, and bolts. Put the damper on!! Great bike! They power wheelie easy, without trying! Loads of torque!

By the way, I got my 2 side fairings from airtech.

For the fairings i'd say ebay of coarse and try the classifieds on tlzone.net. There are a few companies that make aftermarkets kits as well... Good luck!
