Need some help guys...so here's the stats: '02 gsxr 600 15k miles I'm the only owner and it has been riden hard but maintanenced regularly.
The problem started with a hesitation and escalated to misfires. I first replaced the spark plugs...didn't help. Then put it in dealer mode and got c-26 and c-27 errors. Number 3-4 coils. I switched the 3-4 coils with the 1-2 to see if the coils or spark plug boots were bad. The bike still errored on 3-4 with the same c-26 and c-27 codes. Next i checked every electrical connection. Put silicon stuff in all of them, went over the wires for cracks or tears with none found. Now I'm stuck with were to look next. The manual has me looking at crank and cam position sensors but i don't have the data tool easily available. I can get it if that's what you guys suggest.
Now here is the twist. At the same time the hesitation started i descided i had never popped a tire from a burn out so that had to change, I know brilliant idea right, but i did. After doing this my speedo started to act funny and then not work at all. Problem was radial tire wire wrapped around the speedo shaft under the counter shaft sprocket cover. I have all the wire removed but the bike doesn't run to see if the speedo works correctly now. I think these were two independent problems but maybe you guys will see a relationship. I checked all fuses and nothing was blown. I pushed the bike and the speedo does not seem to register but i'm not sure if the bike has to be actually running for it to work or wether it can just be in the on position.
Any help would be great!
