The cat is part of the downpipes there is no getting rid of that without a full system, although you could gut it i suppose.

You can put an 06/07 header on it, and problem solved. ;)

08 headers are a smaller diameter to 06/07's, also remember that the cylinder head is new too.:hammer

The smaller diameter pipes on the 600 only and I believe they did not change the casting only internally. I talked to the M4 guy on the Dealer Expo in Indy and he said it will fit.

So the headers are exactly the same as the previous model? IMO all the slipons for the 06/07 look like shit except the taylormade and if i have to buy headers im going to go ahead and get a full system to lose the weight and perform better. Just doesnt seem right puting used parts on a new bike to me. To each their own though.

If you read carefully, they are NOT exactly the same...

the r6 uses the same set up for the headers/cat box. what the r6 guys are doin is taking the headers off and welding a mid pipe of their own on there.. simple fix there and it would be cheap using mild steal if you wished to. then bolt your slip on and kapow no cat!

I think it's much easier to put an 06/07 header on it...:scratch

What do you think will have to be done with the 02 sensor when we replace the entire system?

Plug back in the exhaust. Nowadays all good quality full systems has the place to put the O2 sensor. If not buy one O2 sensor eliminator from Dynojet...
