Does anyone knows what's the horse power expect to be on the Gixxer 1K 2004??? I saw the ones for Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Honda and to be honest it seems like trouble in the city, so I hope that our dear folks at Suzuki, Japan don't get cought with their guards down. Hit me back if you know this.... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wait.gif

Apparently same specs as 2003; only new graphics on your fairing.
I would not worry too much about horsepower numbers, the 03 1000 has a great motor; otherwise wait for 2005 for a much revised model.

I agree with the motor comment.

I suspect strongly that the R1 will be a revvy fucker with less low or midrange power, which is what I love about my gixxer... you can run 85mph all day and not beat on the bike, and still accelerate like a bastard in fifth or sixth.

The ZX10R I reserve comments about, but the bore and stroke, max power also look like it'll be a revver. Fine if you can stomach keeping your bike at 9K on casual rides.

The 2004 R1 and the ZX-10 will be in-fact a bit more powerful and quicker than our 2003 Gix1000 till 2005, in which Suzuki will come out with the Gix1000rr. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I don't mind keeping my bike above 9k. But then again I have a 750 http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

dont get carried away, im sure you will not have to keep em at 9,000 rpm to get any power. there still got plenty of torque regardless, they are not 750's or 600's and no matter the peak the r1 lost like 2 pounds of torque. not that big of a deal really. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/sleep.gif

It could be very big deal. If the bike has a lot of hp up top but not so much down low and has a big hit when the power comes on, it makes it a lot harder to ride. Even the 01-02 1000s were dinged for this. The 03s have a smoother powerband, it just pulls harder the more you rev it with no real step-up or hit in the powerband, and also makes it a lot easier to drive out of corners for the same reasons. This makes for a good, tractable bike that is more user-friendly. With a peaky bike you have to be more careful with gear selection and when you pull the trigger coming out of a corner.

If the new R1 is such a beast, with a big wallup up top, it may make for a good race bike in the hands of a pro racer, but won't be so good as a street bike in the hands of mere mortals. Highside, anyone? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/squid.gif

Where's the list that I sign up for wrecked 04 R1's? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/flipa.gif

The list can be found right here: Crashed Toys (http://www.crashedtoys.com/)

He's got many more bikes in the shop that he can't list for auction yet because he hasn't gotten the title for them yet. But you can bet that there's some good deals to be had here. Last spring I stopped in to find an '03 black/flames R6 with 7 miles on it. He said the person road acrossed the parking lot, dumped it and gave up. I don't know how it was considered a write-off with the minimal fairing damage, but otherwise it was perfect...

So what are the 05 Gixxer 1K's looking like? What are the changes going to be? Sometime in January I will be getting either an 03 or 04 Gixxer 1K. Should I wait for the 2005??
