I recently sent out my cases to be bored out 3mm and after getting the cases back, they seem to have some machining marks on the deck, and the deck was also lightly sand blasted to remove the plating after boring so it doesn't have the machined look anymore.

I didn't ask them the surface the block because it measured flat and was free of defects.


Are you able to lightly surface the deck after they have been plated with out damaging of chipping the plating? What kind of surfacing machine should I ask to be used?

Yes, i do it with my head grinder regularly. I've even fly cut it and had no issues but grinding is the best finish.

That gasket walks (floats from fuel knock/slight detonation) from that factory cut or the seep is extreme on the cylinder side... I would like to know how much better that altered surface cut is now.

I have how much cut from my block to cause detonation and I am 12:1 max to my exotic fuels being used... Take my dependability away and I will.... I hate sending out parts and then think everyone thinks I am going to set my bike up like them and I sure hope they used a block and your own head stud bolts/new head gasket. Each bolt crushes head to gasket to cylinder different. You want that perfect hole as perfectly round as possible. If you are going to make a new hole... In my opinion, I would bore it as if the bike were sitting cold in the garage, (gasket and all).
