: Tuning Time
WebCrush 09-13-2003, 01:21 PM 360 miles later, my bike is in the hands of an able tuner in NY who thinks he can get 130hp or at least close to it.
He's doing a complete custom FI map from scratch and each and every cell in both fuel and ignition advance will be done unique on a load controlled dyno using race fuel.
I should have the bike back in a few days. This thing is gonna rip. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
If this is guy is as good as others have stated he is, I'll pass along his number.

sanee 09-13-2003, 02:21 PM hmmm love to hear about this one
130hp yikes
bmfgsxr 09-13-2003, 02:32 PM you have more money in this motor than it would cost to buy a new bike.. although the new bike wouldnt have nearly the hp your going to have... im going to have to sneak a 750 motor in my bike to keep up on the straights. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif i cant wait to hear how much hp your getting.
WebCrush 09-13-2003, 03:51 PM I can't see what's so great about the newer bikes.
I mean, I already have the inverted forks, radial brakes, braced swingarm. My geometry is prolly better and I'm definitely lighter.
So in the end, I'd say my bike is still better cuz of the engine.
I AM a lil bummed out that I'm no longer gonna be so 'trick'. Hell, with the new bikes coming out, whats so 'SuperBike' about my machine? Aside from the rims, not much. SS machinery is getting to the point where SB or even FX classes are just gonna be lame since not much is going to change on the bikes.
ViciousGSXR 09-13-2003, 04:49 PM im also curious about the numbers after the remap. what hp are you at now before the remap.
I got another question, now that the new GSXR600 is comming out with the new forks and swing arm would your bike be legal in the ss class besides the motor work.

I was putting out 118.1hp beforehand on the F/USA dyno, which is a lil jaded low to help prevent guys from being DQ'd. I was also running 50/50 race/pump gas at the time since it was practice sessions. Also had the Dino break in oil still and rings weren't perfectly seated yet. Right now their gonna map it on full VP MR-1, I have the Maxima 0w-30 oil in the bike, and I feel the engine is pretty broken in.
I think tuning will definitely make a difference as right now we have virtually NO tuning. We have the Yosh box on the ECU turned up +10 across the board and the PCIIIr set to FULL rich across the board as well. It actually put out the most power when we did that. So, we KNOW its running rich. In fact, there was so much fuel that the bike temp wouldn't crack above 130* while on the track unless I taped over the radiator. From these we can see that we can advance the ignition big time as well as fine the line where it gets enough fuel to make the power it wants to make.
My bike will never be SS legal for a couple of reasons:
1. I have aftermarket rims
2. My frame is not SS legal. Official story is that we have bored out the swingarm mounts on the 600 frame and welded the swingarm mounts from a 750 frame in place.
3. I hate DOT tires (plus they don't make 16.5" DOTs. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
4. Custom shock linkage, triples, shorty subframe, and removal of charging system would also remove my SS legality.
Right now the bike weight 356lbs wet. Thats 2 lbs more than the 2004 model claimed DRY weight, and tests usually show that a full wet bike is about 50lbs heavier than dry.

supersport needs to be a bike with original equiptment... but really, besides the motor and rims his bike will be just about the same as a 2k4 ss bike.
davegsxrold929r 09-13-2003, 08:39 PM damn thats going to be alot of juice from a 600 .., sweet.... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif
sanee 09-14-2003, 08:12 AM very nice numbers
Quick Toy 09-14-2003, 12:12 PM Adam, you may want to think about putting a zx7r radiator on the bike..its a lot bigger.. Many peeps have problems with 3 mil kits over heating out of the blue, because the cylinder walls are soo much narrower..Also take your thermostat out and gut it so it continually free flows..Also theres a new company out making an engine coolant that is legal that my shop is about to carry. They guarantee its 20 degrees cooler that water..I met the guys from the company at VIR when i was workin for hooters and they gave me a bottle and its bad ass..theyre also making a polish that is the first polish ive ever used thats better than honda polish
WebCrush 09-14-2003, 12:27 PM Thermo's already been gutted but temps haven't been a problem in the case of overheating. If anything, we can't keep any damn heat IN the bike.
