: 2004's - GSXR 1000, 750, 600 all look the same!
Lorenzo 09-13-2003, 01:59 AM I don't understand why suzuki has to make the 1000, 750 and the 600's
all look the same. You almost cannot tell the difference between the
600 and the 1000 now. I purchased the 1000 not only because of the
fantastic motor, handling etc. but the looks for that specific model. Well,
I don't know how I'll feel seeing all the 750's and 600's running around
which look the same. Why didn't they slap that body on the TLR considering
they discontinued it so it seems. I don't know what you all think about the
new bikes, but take a look at the following link and check them all out
and see if you feel the same way as me???

Dingo3243 09-13-2003, 02:41 AM I'm not all that impressed really. I'm more anticipating the 05' 1K than anything else. Color selection isn't that great either. The silver/black 1K for next year is decent. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
9 out of 10 British housewives can't tell the difference between the 748, 916,996 and 998.
(Never heard any complains about that!)
NABIT 09-14-2003, 05:05 PM The r6 and the r1 for 03 look almost the same. Different tail light and 4 pods in the headlight are about the main differences....
BusaGeek@work 09-14-2003, 05:37 PM Could it possibly be that maybe the manufacturers want to capitalize on the fame of the 1K and sell the whole product line. Nahhh, they're not in this for the money.
Shogun 09-14-2003, 06:14 PM Keeping them the same, and having some parts interchangable keeps the costs in check, and somewhat affordable.
The '04 1K doesn't look like the 750/600 as much to me...no more than honda, yamaha, ducati (as mentioned), and Kawasaki...
JoshN 09-14-2003, 07:46 PM now your bike looks like a GS500 http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Palomartian 09-14-2003, 09:33 PM I'm getting 600 stickers for my 1k tomorrow.
Spooner 09-14-2003, 09:47 PM I think its great that many parts interchange between different models-it saves Suzuki money so they can do more R&D to keep giving us the top level bikes, and it saves me money when I crash because there are a lot more parts out there that will work on my bike http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Lorenzo, I already gave my statment on the previous similar post and I have to agree with you. It sucks from Suzuki to do what they did.
bmfgsxr 09-15-2003, 04:12 PM for the guys who say it sucks why not stop and think about how suzuki didnt even raise the msrp of the bikes this year like most other manufacturers did... yeah, suzuki is dumb...
on another note... we know that the formula works so why not use it... i like the fact that the bikes look the same. most manufacturers bikes look very similar. look at the zx6 and 9 of last year.. and the r6,7,1 are all very similar... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bitchslap.gif
1knerd 09-15-2003, 05:21 PM It makes a lot of sense to do this, making the most with the least.
I really like this about Suzuki, function is always first, and form always follows. Seems engineers run things, not stylists and sales people.
I think Harley has it reversed, all show, no go, costs don't matter. Sorry if I sound harsh.

doesn't sound harsh....sounds logical.
THREAT 09-15-2003, 06:15 PM Hell I'm happy they did not do the undertail exhaust like the other bikes!! Question, will all the pipe companies have to adjust their pipes to be compatible with these new models like the
R-1 and Honda? if not .....sucks to be the owners of them bikes....lol http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/punk.gif

Not to mention how much those pipes are gonna cost. Esspecially for the R-1 with dual outlets.
I do wish they would put more trick stuff on the 1000 like they did for the 750 and 600. With radial M/C and all.
Starter98 09-15-2003, 10:48 PM I think it's a great concept and is a real winner. Suzuki has been doing this trick since time began with the 1100 and 750, then the 750 & 600 SRADs, the K models and now this update. Next time you stack it and ring around the breakers for parts you'll be thanking Suzuki as well cause the parts are so much more plentiful (except if you own an R1 http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif cause I'm forgetting how well they handle on their side). It surprises me a little that the other Japanese brands haven't entered into model sharing a whole lot more, cause a company like Suzuki that has 14% market share and sells about 200-300 of each bike a year over in Aust at the price they do doesn't really allow them much cream. When you think about it the number of bikes on the road is fuck all, and the variety is on par or better with cars manufacturers so costs need addressing somewhere cause development ain't free.
2k3thou 09-16-2003, 06:22 AM An Akrapovic Full Race Exhaust (not even Full Ti) for the undertailed exhausted Ducatis costs from $2300 up to $2700 Dollars. I donīt expect the Yami and Honda exhausts to be much cheaper.
It only make sense from a cost and performance standpoint.
If a company engineers a product(1k) and it has good performance and styling, why would you take your other models and head in a different direction.
The 1k and the was built upon the platform of the 750 in the first place. Whats the big suprise? I can tell the difference and so can anyone that rides. Although who cares, its not like these are one of a kind bikes, thus the term MASS PRODUCTION. Honestly I can't wait to go riding with some gus on the 04 sixes and 750's, what a blast! I like my bike and bought it cause dollar for dollar I thought it the best buy for my money.
I can't afford to buy a bike every year and it was a stretch to shell out the dough as it was. But I am happy with my purchase and glad I can buy a performance machine like it for 10g's.
My suggestion to you guys that want one of a kind machines is to buy aftermarket glass and mods and give it custom paint. Everyone will know its you on your one of a kind $25,000 dollar machine. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
