: Supertrapp 4-1 Superlite system for my 92 sixxer

I just installed the system the other day and so far so good. Not sure if it's me but it seems with 4 baffles installed (minimum amount before i need to rejet) it isn't as responsive on the low end anymore, but screams top end.

Now i know that with import cars there is a general rule of thumb that 4-1 systems sacrifice low end grunt for top end, where as 4-2-1 systems generally don't sacrifice low end too much, and keep the powerband fairly evened out. Does this also apply with motorcycles?

Anyone else have this system? How's it hold up with usage?
reason i ask is because AFTER i made the purchase of the system a few local people said that SUPERTRAPP sux but really never gave a valid reason why.

Either way i can't complain.....i only paid 140.00 for the system and sold my stock system for 65.00 so either way i made out.....unless this thing decides to shit the bed on me for some unknown reason.

thanks,
duey

The "Rule of Thumb" you described is pretty much the same for an I-4 sport bike.

What I'd do with that system is add or remove baffles for the sound you want, THEN re-jet the bike and the throttle response should get better.

People usually say that the Super Trapp exhausts suck because the bolts that hold the baffle discs rust up and sieze to the point where they absolutly won't come out. If I were you, I'd try to find a set of Stainless bolts to put in there.

Cool, thanks for the info on the bolts. So i guess other than the problem with the bolts it was a pretty good deal i guess.

Oh and one more question, just so i know..., how much does labor cost to rejet the carbs cost? The local "stealership" is infamous for overcharging so i'd like to know at least about how long it takes (labor time) to rejet the bike.

thanks again
