Ok, so I am in the shit now. I just bought my bike at the beginning of the summer, and just blew the motor this weekend. I am not mechanically inclined and just got a quote of 3 to 5 grand to rebuild. Anyone have thoughts on this? The bike is too old to dump that type of money into it. What do you think of finding a used motor? Anyone know of any? This SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! If I had 3 grand to dump into a motor, I could have afforded a newer bike. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I have a 600 motor that'll fit in your frame or there's a 750 motor that's going for I don't know how much. It won't be an 1100 anymore but at least you'll be back on the road.

thanks for the reply, but if possible I would rather keep it an 1100. Just because I am anal about stuff like that. I have called a few places for used motors, no luck yet.

I know what you mean I also went to a 1100 motor. Got it for $1600.00 and am putting another $1500.00 into it to make it right. Watch out out there don't forget to ask about the tranny. I was screwed and not even offered a cigarette! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Are you kidding me? How many miles were on the engine? Where did you get it? My tranny is still good. (I hope) I am looking around now to see what is up. I am going to give Dwayne a call and see what he has to say. Boy, it is nice to have this forum.
1600.00 for the motor? Damn. I think the bike might just disappear. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

the motor has a new top end and soon it will have a new bottom end as well. I've already sent her to the shop to do the deeds. That's probably why she's costing me an arm and leg (and a left nut). thanks for the offers but it better be right with all this cash I'm spending on her.

Look for a place that is selling a gauranteed good running motor, it'll be way less then 3,000
