Well, got to the track around 5ish on Thursday for registration only to find out that the only race I can do on Friday is closed. So Friday consisted of two morning practice sessions and that was it. Was only able to muster a high 1:23..low 1:24.
Had 4 races on Saturday, HW SB, HW SS, UL GP & UL SS. They all went about the same and I ended up right near the rear of the pack. Did drop to 22’s by the 3rd race but was unable to get into the 21’s like the last race weekend. Kind of frustrating and I could not figure out why I was not able to hit the 21’s.
Sunday was FUSA UN GP and I qualified 2nd to last with a low 22 (fast time was a 15). UN GP was the second race of the day and for me, the best race I’ve had on the 750 to date. Got into a scrap with my friend Chris (#388) and battled for the entire race. I was faster than him all over the track except for braking into turn one. I would get a better drive out of 10 only to have him pass me on the brakes every time going into one. This would then screw up my drive to 3 and from there to 10 he would hold me up and I couldn’t find a (clean) way around him. Some where around a lap or two before the white flag I said fuck it and kept on the gas through turn 4 and was able to out brake him going into 5. Once I got around him I started to pull away and the next thing I know, it’s the white flag. Kept my head down and didn’t look back to see where he was. Expected him to pass me on the brakes into 1 but he didn’t. From there I knew I would beat him and I took the checked flag and was happy as hell. My friend ended up tossing his bike down in 1 prior to the checkered flag in an attempt to catch me. He was ok and still was grinning from ear to ear from the race we just had.
All in all, a great weekend with great weather.
Oh yeah, Justin was down there for the wet Thursday practice and a GTU on Friday. He ended up going down (again) after getting into a big head shake and losing his brakes going into 5 (I think). I tried to get him to call into work so he can race on Saturday but he chose to go bar hopping in MD with a few friends (very gay I think).
