Hey guys, I am looking to get a ride organized for this summer to benefit cancer research. My grandfather passed away in 2006 from cancer and I am sure that many of you know or love someone has faught with cancer. I wanted to show memory to my grandfather and all those who have faught the good fight by organizing a ride to benefit cancer research. Here are some of my ideas and goals...comments and suggestions are welcome.
1) Time: Would like to organzie the ride sometime in the later months of summer, probably around August or September.
2) Local and National Sponsorship: I am going to try and meet with some dealerships in the Northern Colorado and Denver Metro areas to get some dealerships involved and hopefully get some sponsorship cash. As an employee of Home Depot I am going to try and get some sponsorship funds and publicity through them as well. Finally I am going to try and find away to get food and music for the event, through local radio stations and restaraunts. I have several friends who do cancer research at Colorado State University. They will be able to help channel ALL proceeds to the correct hands. My goal is that EVERY PENNY raised will go to cancer research.
3) Location: I am from Northern Colorado, however, I would like to get some more excitement around the event. I am exploring many possible ideas at the moment as to a central location for the event. My idea is that the venue should be centralized where it will get alot of attention. Therefore the Denver area is the best idea I have, as to the exact location I am not sure yet. I am even looking into seeing if we can get Mile High Stadium or some other outdoor venue for the event.
4) My goal: My goal is to raise $100,000. I think this is a very large goal and it will not be as easy as that number may sound. I hope to do this every year and every year hope to increase that goal. I also want every single penny of every single donation to go cancer research. I do not plan on pocketing one cent, in fact I plan on spending quite a bit of money out of my own pocket if necessary. Everyone and anyone is open to participate in the event, I do not want to exclude Harley riders or even folks that do not own or ride motrcycles. The idea behind the event is to gather many people together, eat and drink and enjoy music and browse eachothers bikes, and at the end of the day go for a ride in memory of all those who have faught with cancer and to raise awareness.
These are just preliminary ideas guys. But this is something I cant organize without an idea of who would be interested. Spread the word, give me any ideas or suggestions. This is a fun event with an awesome purpose. I want to make this big. Let me know what you all think.
