Hey guys, I am looking for some friendly advice on a possible bike change. I have owned a 2002 FZ1 for 1.5 years and am thinking of trading for a 03 G1k. I have owned various street and dirt bikes over the last 20 years, but never a full on super sport. Most of my riding is up and down the local canyons and rarely over 200 miles round trip. It's not like the FZ is holding me back, it is better than I am, but the reviews of the new Gixxer sound incredible. Anyone else make a similar switch?

Kinda a similiar experience. I had 2001 fz1, with ivans jet kit and a yosh slip on. It was a great bike, but I always hated the front end feel. I have gone from a ZX-12R to a Honda 954. I test rode a gixxer thou last month, friggin spectacular bike. I definitley think you can't go wrong with it. way better feed back and handling than a FZ1. I always just felt like I was puttin that fz1 front ent where I wanted it to go then prayin it was there. It never let me down, but hated it just the same. Your Yammi is a great bike, but the gixxer will do everything way better( except the comfort thing). Good luck in your choice. I miss the old FZ1 it is a great bike.

Have ridden FZ1s manymany times and ride with a few regularly... great machines but don't like the handling or front end feel.. bought an 1k3 . I too am a little older than most on the foum and even coming off of a GSXR 750 was having problems with my right hand / wrist. Bought the Heli bars and having been having a blast ever since. lots of 300+ mile days in the twisties with no wrist / neck problems at all
