: A different GSXR1000
Stocky 09-01-2003, 09:21 PM I've posted this in the Streetfighter section...but it's a GSXR1000 so I thought I'd stick it in here too..
It started life as a K1 1000 and now has a Buell headlight, Pro Tapper bars, IXIL underseat system, Polished wheels, Custom gaurds, 520 conversion with +6 on the back,Yellow box, Yoshi frame sliders, Carbon front guard, R6 hugger, braided lines, TRE, Pair, K&N, 2 short stacks, Yoshi shock spacer, Mini and LED indicators, custom gauge face, bar end mirror, and more.
Took a fair bit of re-wiring etc but it's coming along. I'll continue cleaning it up. I think I'll try and convert it to a hydraulic clutch and get a brake master cylinder off a Bandit for it.
I'd also like to put the lower part of a race fairing on it as a belly pan.
What do you think ?

Jerry F 504 09-01-2003, 09:34 PM Sweet bike. It would look even better with a turbo hanging off of the front of the motor. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Timo050 09-01-2003, 09:39 PM I would never do that to a 1000 but I guess whatever floats your boat
Very, very nice work. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
02gix1k 09-01-2003, 10:03 PM I think it looks like crap, but you asked.
It reminds me of that old cartoon motorcyle. There was a whole gang and the one talking motorcyle was Wheelie. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gifIt had headlights for eyes-dead ringer.
BusaGeek@work 09-01-2003, 11:16 PM Most water cooled engines were never meant to be seen. This is one of those engines.
BTW, do you really have a 48 tooth rear sprocket? If so, why?
To be honest, it looks like crap! I felt like I was going to get a heart attack by viewing the pics. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/plthumbsdown.gif
oneliter 09-02-2003, 12:17 AM Yes of course it’s not as pretty as with all it skin in its natural state, but your attention to detail, creativity and the cleanliness of the bike is right on!! Awesome job..
Mr Gixxer 09-02-2003, 12:37 AM a chin fairing, a different tail and a paintjob...so people will have to guess what bike it is
and don't bother tellin em why the big rear sprocket, it's a fighter thing http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
INFERNL 09-02-2003, 12:47 AM Saw this post earlier and wanted to wait till I saw more post replies to it.
--Especially the flaming ones. (bunch of closed-minded bastiges... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif )
You have a great deal of imagination! Your bike is indeed one of a kind now. In fact, even though I prefer full fairing bikes, I'd ride the tires off your naked Gixx. Nice work, especially when it comes to the re-routing of wiring, headlight, gauge cluster, etc.
Very well done! Hope you get to enjoy her to the fullest! -Looks like one helluva track day weapon to me!

bodymandave 09-02-2003, 12:53 AM that looks bad ass, must be a blast to drive missing alot of weight up front and that pizza pie sprocket on back. kudos.
Dave http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
racerboy 09-02-2003, 01:29 AM RTFO! Way to be different. Who gives an arse what someone else thinks. They didn't spend their hard earned money on it. Bet you can't keep the front end on the ground. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif
It might look good with a Katana opo up light?
MP
erixgix 09-02-2003, 01:37 AM I also admire the work and detail that went into this. You did a great job.
Hope you never have to take the throttle boddies off though, cause you'll have to drill that forward most welded up hole out to get to the fasteners.
Nigel 09-02-2003, 02:47 AM I think it is fucking great. I would love to have your bike as a second one. I think the 01/02 is a easier bike to wheelie and would kill for one like yours, just for fun times http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Nigel.
I think it looks great. Most streetfighters look really butchered, but the front end of yours looks good. Maybe a small fairing at the bottom of the engine and I don't really go for underseat pipe conversions, but otherwise it looks pretty mean http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
SportbikesRider 09-02-2003, 08:08 AM Good job dude!
It looks great!
Very creative....definatly a http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Love the head lights, however I would change up the rest of the body work so most people have no idea what it is............
mike91 1216 09-02-2003, 09:42 AM That thing is awsome....
Heyabuza 09-02-2003, 02:48 PM Looks like it would be wheelie fun! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
1knerd 09-02-2003, 02:58 PM I like it, I'd put a bigger fairing on just for comfort.
Matt1k 09-02-2003, 06:34 PM It looks sweet from the front.....maybe try a different tail to accent the work done to the front? Nice work
AlbGixxer 09-02-2003, 08:54 PM NIce!! I like it (said with an evil grin)
You should post some before and after shots.
Knoxvegas 09-02-2003, 09:29 PM The windscreen is little odd. But I like it! Think of all the money you save if you crash w/o the full fairings. Nice job, especially for stunting.
Craig - Sydney 09-02-2003, 10:05 PM What is a streetfighter ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?
2phast 4u 09-02-2003, 10:31 PM Holly Crap that actually lookz nice azz hell http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

DeepCover 09-03-2003, 07:34 AM yea, your 1000 streetfighter is the best i've seen. I even got your pics saved. You've done a great job!
2crazee 09-03-2003, 08:17 AM Nice job....Very creative. Dont let a few negative posts discourage you. Its great to see someone try something a little different and you have done it quite well. Take a look at a copy of Street Fighters magazine to inspire yourself a bit more and push the envelope a little further.
myblue/whitegixxer1 09-03-2003, 08:22 AM I like it!
Street fighter are an aquired taste and not for everyone but I like.
Did you crash the bike and rebuild or was this 100% planned.
jeffw 09-03-2003, 09:04 AM While streetfighters are not my bag, it does look good.
CabinCooter 09-03-2003, 12:01 PM Nice, nice work. Streetfighter not really my bag, either, but the attention to detail is lovely and the quality of work looks outstanding!
kudos for having a vision and following through on it http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Stocky 09-08-2003, 12:39 AM Yeh, it was a crash damaged bike.
It was not practical to restore it to a standard fairing again so it got the Streetfighter treatment.
It is a really cool second bike too. With the grearing and seating postion it's fun around town.

chrisOH 09-08-2003, 12:44 AM Front end looks like it is trying to be a buel lightning. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif

markbsae 09-27-2003, 01:48 AM Looks pretty cool. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
I personally would have scrounged up a Ducati monster headlight, a custom tail section and painted the frame and all black, especially those hideous fork tubes which i can not understand why Suzuki let them be brown.
Also the stainless on the hoses and such brings attention to them, I'd have stayed with black on those for a streamlining effect.
I like the idea of a streetfighter 1000. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
fatguyona1000 09-27-2003, 02:42 AM I've got to say that I don't really get off to streetfighters. In a crowd of bikes on bike night I would most likely pass over your bike with nothing more than a glance. I've never really paid attention to streetfighters
That being said, I will now keep my eye out for them......especially conversions.
In that same crowd of bikes on bikenight, I now realize that I would probably give your bike most of my attention. I still don't get off to the look (maybe that will now change), but I really admire your bike the more I look at. The front end takes some engenuity. The side of frame looks extremely clean with the rerouting of the wires. What exactly did you use for the ram air intakes? Are they off of some other naked bike? And why the need for a master cylinder off a bandit?
I agree with someone else that I would go a little different route with the headlight, but great use of materials on hand. There is a guy that I saw somewhere that damn near converted his SV (I think) into an MV Agusta. Sky's the limit. I like your bike.
1knerd 09-27-2003, 01:39 PM I like your bike, comfort, weight reduction, and its different.
I'd do 2 things if it were mine, 750 showa forks are a huge handling improvement, and another fairing with wind protection
would be another huge improvement, you'll just get blow off/worn out using the power/speed. Besides anything made by buel will just
break anyway! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
BTW, Does pro taper make the upper triple tree for normal handlebars?
NABIT 09-27-2003, 06:56 PM I think it looks damn good and would make a great ass kicker compared to the honet900 and the z1 or whatever it is that ymaha has..I like it!!!!! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

GOATBOSS 09-28-2003, 09:43 AM Different strokes for different folks.........and thank god for that. Totally cool. I love the look from the front, Suzuki's air intake through the frame! That is one bad ass cooling system on the 1000, looks mean from the front.
