curious which performs better the spiegler or the galfer lines????????

MotoMummy
02-14-2008, 12:54 AM
they perform the same as all aftermarket brake lines don't flex when pressure is applied from the fluid. It comes down to price, fitment and looks. IMO spieglers color options and the quality/looks of their colors are top notch and along with their customer service...

With other brands you don't have the color options, colors for the banjo bolts, and the colors they do have aren't as good as Spieglers imo. It's nice that all of spieglers employees and the owner all race. The spiegler quick disconnects that we have on our shop bike were brought into the country by the spiegler owner as he wanted them on his endurance race bike :) The guys at Spiegler really know their stuff...

I'm thinking of ordering blue lines with red banjos....or blue/blue.

I'll definitely upload some pics after I make up my mind.

Question, why does the K6 1000 kit above have a cross-over? it's not dual lines from the master?

yes we are replying to pm's. Sab we only sell 2 off the master setups so if anyone get them from us and installed them with crossover setups then they were installed incorrectly. Spiegler sells oem type setups and 2 off the master setups. We only sell the 2 off the master cyl setups and our kits come with matching colored banjo bolts :) Best kits on the market...

more direct route to each caliper then going from the master cyl, to one caliper, then to the other. Or the pics above would get the jobe done well also. Do a Y or T connector and branch off to each caliper. Spieglers best attributes though are the finish they come in. I have seen galfer's fade very easy, crack banjo's when torquing them down, and other issues. The finish on spiegler is what is amazing. For instance if you see a galfer gold banjo compared to spieglers gold the difference is mind boggling. All brake lines won't flex so they perform the same. The finish and anti twist technology is what gives Spiegler an upper hand.

we have only had 2 people get them and they do look very damn good. I believe they got white lines with black banjo's and I was shocked at how well they turned out. Our next shop bike will mostly likely have white lines with either titanium or black banjo's.

So I just installed new Spiegler brake lines for the front with two lines coming off the master (not the crossover arrangement I've seen in some photos here). Bleeding is complete.

Note that one line is 1+ inch longer than the other: this one I routed to the left side of the bike.

The third line marked rear hasn't been installed...no I didn't f--k up and try to install the rear line on the front.

So my question/observation is that both front lines seem a bit long and it concerns me they might bind up when the front suspension is fully compressed.

I'm about to install the bracket that mounts to the triple clamp to secure the lines "up top", use the loop on the back of the fender to tie off the left side line and go the track this weekend.

Any comments and/or observations would be appreciated.

MotoMummy
10-02-2008, 08:52 AM
race bikes often have them VERY long. they won't bind up though. The only thing to watch for is to make sure that when you turn the bike they don't snag on anything like the damper. make sure you can turn from full left to full right w/o worrying about them snagging anything.

Just thought I'd post a testiment for Spiegler's.

I had a fairly minor lowside at Putnam over the weekend, and the clip on pushed the brake line ends into the forks, loosened up the banjo, and I expected to need new brake lines.

I ended up re-torquing them and they worked fine. Was really surprised they handled the impact.

I have a 2006 GSX-R 1000 how are the front lines ran with the 2 lines coming off the master cylinder? The stock one run over the fender, what hold the left side on if you don't use the bracket on the fender? Came across this tread today, because I am looking for some nice brake lines. I was looking at Galfer, but Spiegler look nicer. Where can I order these brake lines? Thanks for your help.

MotoMummy

We are a vendor and sell Spiegler lol.

You just attach both to the master cyl and then run them down to each caliber. Most all aftermarket brake lines are like this. You don't need anything to hold them on. They won't move around.

Lots of bikes route it that way. IT's not uncommon at all. why they do it that way I can't answer as they would need to answer that one. It's not uncommon at all for sportbike oem to be routed with an over the fender line.

They do it for shorter total hose length (more hose, more flex), and to only have one hose to contend with in the cockpit. Best design is a single line from the master to a T at the lower triple with equal length to the calipers, but I know I am in the minority with that opinion. :) The Spieglers are very nice looking though, and I really like that you can spin the banjos. I wish they all did that.
