Less than a week left to get this bike ready for the races at buttonwillow, and still a long way to go. Forks are off and being worked on, and all I can say is that the stock forks are junk. I was assuming that they were similar to the gixxer 600 forks, but that was a bad assumption. I am trying to fit a set of SV650 sharkskinz upper and lower to it, but haven't gotten far with that yet. The tail section I made from glass because no one made one yet. So far I have derestricted the ECU, removed the PAIR system, removed the snorkel and poked through the stock cans. That is about all I plan on doing engine-wise for now.

Mstingray, I should be starting from behind you on the open twins grid, better not let me by. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I'm hooked.....I'm in. You made the tail section yourself????
Is that a racing subframe or did you cut the stock one?
New rearsets?
have you broke the engine in at all yet? How does it feel compared to a TLR/TLS?

Nice man...I like it keep us updated...have you seen any SV1KR's at SVrider?

Hey, itsmyforte, yep, I am over there too. I was hoping for a good technical site like this one for the big SV, but it is not the same.

Yes, I made the tail section because noone else made one. As soon as I pulled it out of the mold I saw that sharkskinz released theirs. Funny how close mine looks to theirs. Making one is a pain-in-the-ass, I will buy the next one.

The rearsets are actually stock 650 rearsets with some setback adapters that I made for the 650.

It has been so long since I rode a TL so I can't give a good comparison between the 2, but stock the 1k did dyno at 69 lbs-ft and 107hp with a very flat curve. That is down on the TLR but it does have more midrange.

I have ridden it at the track once already, and it does have a rather abrupt off/on throttle response, but the power is good. The suspension needs work, the bike is bouncy and wallowing, but we are working on that.

We shall see this weekend.
