They aren't that rare, rule of thumb is shooting a white deer is bad luck.

The way I see it, the more of them shot is the less of them running in front of me on the road.

They are kinda rare down here. Its also illegal is shit to shoot one. One guy had 3 living on his property, 1 got ate by coyotes and 2 met the front end of semi's lol. Id like to see one up close, but could never shoot it.

I found this:

Albino deer births are estimated in statistical studies to be 1 in 30,000. Albino fawns rarely reach adulthood due to preditors. Besides the fact that they are solid white and cannot conceal themselves in their environment, they also usually have one or more of the following genetic problems: Poor eyesight, poor hearing, and deformities of their feet and legs. This is also the reason that adult albino deer have a life expectancy of only 3 to 4 years. They make an easy target for both hunters and preditors. In order for an albino fawn to be born, both parents must be albino, or if both parents carry the albino gene (they would be normally colored) they have a 1 in 4 chance of producing a fawn that is albino. According to a man I talked to with the Wildlife Department in NC, in his words, "Hunters very, very rarely see an albino deer."

Those appear to be white deer. An albino deer has pink eyes

Here is some more info

The difference between an all-white deer and an albino deer is the eyes. All-white deer’s eyes are black and the albino’s eyes are pink. It is legal to hunt piebald deer, which have spots of white fur on their brown coats.

The fine for killing an albino or all-white deer varies from $200-$1,000. In addition, the courts will determine the value of the dead deer, which the hunter must pay. Poachers also lose their hunting privileges for three years.

The only other states with laws against hunting albino deer are Illinois, Iowa, Tennessee, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

"Rakotz said she isn't sure if she has room to mount the buck, so she's contacted Cabella's to see if they're interested in buying it."

Such a waste

Yeah really I just moved to TX about 9 yrs ago and I honestly can't STAND a dead animals head in a house. I know they're fake but not in my house! Knowing that, that animal had a soul, and you want to mount it for a trophy, Eff you dude. That's just bad Fangshui sp?

So shooting one shows not how much skill you have because it's like a bright ass neon sign that will walk right up to you if it smells your Pabst.

:lol

Not something I would brag about if I was her.

well the woman is obviously an idiot.. and i dont condone killing a rare animal. however; the reality is that the albino gene isnt one that would be beneficial to the deer population. so ideally taking away the ability for another albino gene to be passed on would actually be good for the overall deer population.

How is it a bad thing? Not that i dissagree i just don't understand your thinking.

I've seen quite a few of them (like 4-5) in my time in the woods. While i'd never shoot one myself I have a hard time telling someone else not to.
