Just out of sheer curiosity, has anyone attempted to do a hydraulic clutch conversion. I think the busa is hydraulic(not sure) and when i was working on a friends 85 zx-900 i noticed it was hydraulic. Has anyone tried to do that convertion, if so how did you do it, i would like to.

Busa and k7 1000 for sure. What kind of bike do you have? You would need to take the hand controls, lines, and solenoid of of a busa or 1000 and rig them to fit on your bike in place of the cable controls. Depending on what bike it is could be fairly straight forward or very difficult requiring specially machined parts.

You'ld be going BACKWARDS!
Most folks who have hydraulic clutch actuators go to cable operated NOT vice versa!

I am just curious. I have a 98 750. Why would you go cabled instead of hydraulic. Weight? Reliability?

Weight, adjustability, feel...

digging up an old post here.
Any more info on this? Since my bike is all in parts and such, it might be worth my time to go hydraulic on the clutch.
SRADIATOR, why would you say that is going backwards? Hydraulic clutches give you a little less feel but you also don't have cables snapping and getting grimy or needing adjusting. Hydraulics give you an easier pull allowing for greater clutch force w/o cramped hands.

And...you get the added weight of a master cylinder, slave cylinder, hose and fluid!
You also don't get ANY adjustability or latitude with engagement/disengagement of the clutch!
I have NEVER "snapped" a clutch cable in ALL my years (38) of riding.
I have, however, had several leaking master cylinders, weepy slave cylinders and mushy clutch levers!
PS...They make/sell a nifty little inline device that changes the mechanical advantage of your clutch lever pull reducing effort by about 20%.
Still weighs less then a master cylinder and wont leak/ooze fluid!

I've read they have adjments on the hydraulic setup also... but I just read that, no experience.
Weight can't be that much... like I said, it's something I am looking into since everything is in pieces right now and I might have to get a new cable once I get there anyway.

Hey Guys,
Where would I be able to get that inline device from?

I'm thinking that this could be installed closest to the sprocket cover to keep it out of the way?
What thinketh you???
