I got a broken shift fork on my 02 750GSXR. I have the manual and a lot of experience with mechanical repair, but never attempted it on a motorcycle. Looking through the manual I have no doubt I can fix it except I need the special tools. Does anyone know the cheapest place to get them, I'm guessing the dealer is the most expensive way?:confused

sockets?allen keys? pick up a nice set of metric sockets and wrenches, and some allen keys at your local hardware store and you should be good to go...;)

These are the tools with suzuki part numbers:
clutch hub holder 09920-53740, starter clutch holder 09920-34830, bearing remover set 09921-20220, bearing installer 09913-70210, rotor holder 09930-44530, rotor remover 09930-34980, all special tools that you have to have to do the job right.

I called suzuki the clutch hub holder was $200, the bearing remover set was $650, the rest I didn't ask.

Take the manual (or prints of the tool photos if you have it in soft copy) to an auto parts store. You don't need the overpriced tools for the most part.

Removal of wheel bearings and the like can often be done with a flat head screw driver, a hammer and some light taps. Just tap on opposite sides so you don't twist the bearing and damage the hub. For wheel and swingarm bearing installation, get a threaded rod, two nuts and two big washers that are slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the bearings.

Harbor freight and tool. Super cheap. I get the tool for "one time use" there. Stuff like bearing remover etc. You don't need the "suzuki" tool. There are lots of brands of speciality tools out there. There is even a craftsmen or snap-on (can't remember) toyota full set. Some of those specialty tools cost close if not over the 100 mark. One tool i regret buying is the RK chain breaker rivetor. You can buy a chain breaker for like $5 and a rivetor for $5 from harbor frieght. There is no point in paying for a 90 buck tool. But hey, live and learn!
