I have a 06 750 and it could be me but i thought id post it on here just to see. When i shift up from First to Second gear it shifts pretty hard (like if you dont give it a good acceleration before you shift up it will jerk). And if i let first ride out a little higher in the RPM range quite often when i pull the clutch in to shift up it will grind or i'll hit neutral.

Like i said maybe its just me but just seeing what you guys think.

shift it a lil quick as in your foot motion

Try a shift star from Factory Pro. It make sit shift smoother and more solid

The more you ride the more the shift will be easier. You must get a feel for your bike. I start out doing the same thing the first few shifts but after several times it smoothes out----good luck GSX 600

My 07 600 does the same thing. Low-Mid rpm shift from 1st-2nd is pretty rough but no trouble at high rpm's or other gears.

Check your oil level first, I like to add a hair above the fill line. Also changing to a thicker oil will smoothen the shifter. Like a 20/50 weight

Except the last year of the GSXR that they made the kit for is the 05, unless they just don't have it on their website...

nevermind I found it... lol, and for the OP, here is a link to the shift star...

I have never used one but I know of several that have and they all love them... The main reason why the 1-2 shift is hard is because the tranny passes through neutral then into second and there is more time for there to be a speed variance between the engine and tranny, this will make shift engagement easier, smoother, and help eliminate missed shifts (especially the 1-2). Again, I have never used one myself, but I have several friends that have and they all love them.

They do help some, but they aren't really needed. Since I made those posts above I have now ridden some of my friends bikes with them in it... I can't really tell a difference between their bikes and my GSXR... granted their bikes are not gixxers, but my Gix feels the same as theirs as far as shift effort and mine is stock and both of them have the FP star.

Just get snappier with your shifts, the majority of problems I see with people shifting is because they are shifting lazily/slowly. It should be one quick firm movement when you shift, nice and fast, all the way into gear... not slow and just barely clicking it in.
