Hey people! I'm having some trouble starting my 97 GSXR 750. It's wierd because it started the other day alright (after 30 seconds of turning the bike over), and ran for a while. I shut it off thinking it was ok, then came out the next day trying to go on a ride. It didn't start. I've yet to try a spark test on it and I know its getting fuel because the plugs were damp, but not overly wet. Does anyone know if the coils on the 96 and 97 GSXR's go bad frequently? Any suggestions on what to check or help with the problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you checked the battery lately. I had that similiar problem on my 99 and the battery was the problem (dead cell). Charging want work either.

Well, the bike battery seemed to get very low because only i was trying to start it so much. So then I used a battery booster box to try and start the bike and it still didn't start with the posts attached to the battery. Now that I think about it, the bike started fine when the posts were not attached and i was using the box. Hmm.

what's a 'battery booster box'?

it's possible your battery could be bad. you can test by using a 12v car battery - use some jumper cables to hook it up directly to the bike (disconnect the car from the car battery).
