I really want to know how my progress is coming along, Ive started doing track days last aug and I really dont ride street any more. But Ive had a guy take some pix of me and I wanna know from the normal track guys (not the ones who go to the track and think they know) but they ones who have some experience. Please be harsh with me... Let me know if something doesnt look rite or my head isnt turn the full turn ect... I dont take it to heart but I will make me more stronger and im really anal about this, ive really want to get better. So here we go and sorry about the typing too.

MUCH better than mine. Not that it means much, but keep in mind that I am "fairly" fast for a roadracer (and very fast compared to trackday addicts). In conclusion: Body position does not matter much. Not to say it does matter at all, but not as much. A roadracer friend has a GREAT body position, and looks REAL fast in pics !!! Yet, he is much slower (like 7-10 seconds). Besides, there are plenty of GP stars that had "bad" body positions.

I'm no expert but here's my opnion.....

Upper body is too tense, other than that you are looking good. I have the same suit too =]

You are to square on the bike. Move your whole body over to the side more. Armpit over the fuel cap and ass should be off more. This will allow greater corner speed with less lean angle. You arm are at 90 degrees which is great. You look pretty loose which is good to.

i was going to say the same... get the shoulders off the center... try put your outside shoulder on the center of the tank... and keep your ass inline with your shoulders....

thats how i was taught...

Here are some good pictures of great body positioning. All AMA guy's.

Yes, like Cestode said, definately move your shoulder/upperbody/butt more into the turn.
I also find that if I move my body more forward it is easier to rest the arms on the tank and thus less grip on the bars.

Also remember cheek up for better vision...........look at Colin Edwards ;)

You should check out the books "Twist of the Wrist". There are two volumes and the first volume is based on alot of "track-day" riding and the second is more towards the street.

I found it to be very helpful in some of my techniques.

You're trying to lean off further than is comfortable for your body. If you're comfortable, relaxed, and have good control of the bike and good feedback, who cares how you look? Yes, there are technical reasons to "hang off" more as guys are recommending, but I'd wager you can hang off as far as you bloody want and Kevin Schwantz on the same bike and the same tires in the same corner will breeze past you. In other words, not hanging off far enough is not likely the cause of any lack of speed on your part. You're probably far better off feeling for suspension action, throttle response as you roll it on, accessibility of controls, line selection, brake markers etc.

I could be out of line, but if Larry Pegram can go as fast as he goes with the body position buffoonery he indulges, I'd find something else to concentrate on.
