Hey i have a 2000 Suzuki GSX-R 600, i just purchased the bike and ive riding it around my neighborhood and on a few streets with no problems, but today i went on the highwa and when the bike warmed up and as i was shifting from 4th to 5th the engine shut off and i rolled to the side of the road, when the engine shut off a red light came on and the oil picture was flashing,

So i strated the bike and when i tried to engage it into first gear the bike shut off and the red light came on again, and again i tried to put it in first gear and it quits once i push the leaver down, it stalls without releasing the clutch lever..

Any ideas to what is going on???

Thanks you any information would be greatly appreciated

Kinda sounds like a side stand switch getting ready to take a shit.
Make sure your kickstand is fully up.

it sounds like you kick stand switch is bad. if you don't want to but another switch you can wire the two wires together coming of your wiring harnes and put electrical tape on then and crank the bike and put it in gear and see what happens

OOORRR...........
I just had this happen to my oil cooled.
The switched ground, which is the single black/white wire on the neg batt cable misteriously unconnected and the exact same thing happened. When the neutral light was on the CDI had a place to ground but when I stepped it gear that ground was lost. Hence, no power to coils.
Worth a shot even though it sounds like a sidestand switch. I can't remember if the new models have that ground or not.
Good Luck, Steve
