I have 14,500 miles on a 2000 GSXR750 and I have a faint ticking noise coming from the engine. You can only hear it when the bike is at idle. Im thinking its in the valve train. Im the only owner of the bike and never had the valves adjusted. Is this a good idea, or is this normal engine noise? Ive also read there is a problem with the cam chain tensioner. Should I replace the tensioner and the cam chain guides? Also, my FI light came on not to long ago. I did the paper clip test and the dash displayed a C28 code. My buddy has a 2001 GSXR1000 and he pulled the same code. He replaced the Throttle Position Sensor and his FI light went out. I also realize this code could mean other things. The bike still runs great, even with the ticking in the engine, and the FI light on. Also is it a good idea to remove the secondary butterflys, or is it not nessesary since the bike runs good?

I would greatly appreciate some help, Thanks.

my 02 750 does the same ticking also but after a couple of jerks on the throttle it quits, i believe its just time for a valve adjustment, if it was something like a wrist pin or bearing it would be a constant tick or ping, and really noticeable
