I need to shave about an inch off the seat so my girl can be more comfortable at a stop. She has a k7 600. I was wondering, if any body can give me some pointer regarding this? Is it going to be a drastic different in seat comfort , if I shave an inch off? If I need to put a gel in do I take all the padding out and where can I find the gel? Any input would help. thanks

I bought a second seat and sent it to Allen at Mean City Cycles. He did a memory foam upgrade that is awesome!! He can custom make it to your specs.

1 inch will make a dramatic difference. I shaved my K-5 seat about an inch. It's easy to do yourself. Just unstaple the covering, only pull back cover past the point of where you want to shave. Do not remove the whole cover. Mark with a sharpie the area to be removed. I used a belt sander to remove the foam. You will find that a razor blade does not work. Remove the foam, then pull cover tight and restaple the seat together. you will never know it has been done.

I shaved my seat last nite, now I get alot less dingleberries.:)

LOL or you can just take it to a upholstery shop and they can do it for you. I work at a seattle upholstery shop and we get our local suzuki coming to us asking to do the same thing for lady buyers so they car ride comfortable. its not spent at all. and they make it uniform and not all fucked up. at least inquire at your local shop. its not a bad idea

If you shave it yourself, shave the underside of the foam that way the imperfections won't show.
