: well i'm about to be GSXR-Less...
dan uk 06-12-2003, 02:39 PM yeap it's the end of the line for me and this particular GSXR. So i thought i'd get Samantha to take a couple of piccies of me. Insurance paid me 2,750 for it and i then (now) sold it as is for 2,200. So 4,950 for a banged up SRAD aint bad http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I got some real lean in a couple of pics but Sam can't hold the camera still to save her life http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Notice the right foot not on the peg but pushed up against the heel plate. I seem to be the only person who does this but bumps on the road can make your foot slip off the peg so i lock the foot in safe.
Next bike ?? Good question. Most cirtainly a GSXR. Maybe the K4 750 ?? I also like the looks of the SV1000S though !! And a K1 1000 floats my boat. Moneys waiting to be spent - decisions, decisions... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

monkeyboy 06-13-2003, 12:08 AM Nice pics...particularly like the thumb-up....very cool and casual http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I just hope you were maintaining correct lane discipline whilst following the diversion on the roundabout:P
FYI Make sure you get a test ride on the SV 1000 before you buy. A friend and I had one for a couple of hours to test ride, neither of us had ridden a big twin so we wanted to try one out....gotta be honest, the power delivery felt strong but had no excitement, it was too linear, and it ran out of revs WAY too early. Made me realise I am a high revving screaming four cylinder lover. My mate (who has an R1) felt exactly the same. I really wanted to love the "twin" experience coz I have a hankering for an RSVR, but not anymore.....gixxer 1000 would be my choice, in yummy bronze and black http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/yumyum.gif
PS The chassis on the SV felt like a frame made of elastic on suspension made of rubber bands, we are SOOOOOOO spoilt with gixxer handling!!!!!
Enjoy whatever you buy, all bikes are good http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

GIXXERUK 06-13-2003, 11:24 AM nice pics Dan http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
k4 750 eh? but can you wait til next year?? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Ooshya Daddy 06-13-2003, 03:04 PM have to agree with monkeyboy. got a VTR1000 as a loaner at the moment. (Firestorm not SP2 unfortunatly) and i just dont really get on with it. the bike itself has a few niggles, crappy mirrors rubbish screen, feet touch the crankcase or exhaust depending on where you put em, but it's the v-twinness that i dont like overall. Again i was wanting an RSV-R at somepoint but they had better be a shitload better than this, there's just no pull or anything.
I mean it's not slow, away from the lights it's on par with my mates ZX6R but it just doesn't feel like it's doing anything. Gotta have that rush in my opinion.
Dan, get yerself down to Riossi / Carnells and bag yerself a bargain before they shut down at the end of the month.
dan uk 06-13-2003, 03:53 PM Thanks for the replys and the info gents.
The big twin thing certainly isn't a necessity. I love the screaming fours but i'd like more low down/mid range grunt than the old 750 gixx. So maybe a 1000 four may be suitable sir.
GSXR1000 K1 for 5 grand sounds good. I could have some serious fun on that bike.
But my minds changing all the time. 10 minutes ago i was set on the idea of getting another 750 srad but in standard condition. Here :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2419303405&category=98 08
I emailed the chap and am going to take a peek at it. Be like a second chance at not writing it off !! 2,800 i'd prolly get it for. Bargain ???????????????
NotoriousREV 06-14-2003, 04:41 PM I've ridden a TL1000R and those things are fookin' quick and they feel faster than an R1 (even though they aren't). The drive out of corners is unbeleiveable. The VTR1000's are typical Honduh, it's just a big commuter bike, IMHO http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
dan uk 06-14-2003, 05:42 PM Hey Dave.
yeah the TL1000S/R are lovely looking machines with wicked write ups.
Not actually ridden either but i'd take the TLS as it proberly suits my Jeckle/Hide personality well http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Not be doing that though. I've just been out to the east Coast 2 hours away in Cleethorpes, Lincs. tonight and paid for a new bike http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif. Well new to me that is.
It's exactlty the same as i had before only straight. There was no way i could better the SRAD without spending upwards of 5 grand so here we go again. And here she is :
http://ebay2.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_EBAY_b0057d94e91fc91fd73412b9c65eed62/i-4_B_L.JPG
Looks much better in the flesh. 10K miles, Harris rear sets, hyper pro top damper, new front and rear tyres (brand new), unmarked.\
Not bad eh ?? Cost me 2,900 cash with all the standard gear.
I'm hitting Cleethorpes again in the morning and picking it up.
GIXXERUK 06-15-2003, 09:03 AM fook ! looks like a bargain mate http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

......certainly does......particularly like the nice grab-rail http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.....you don't strike me as the touring kind of rider Dan?
NotoriousREV 06-24-2003, 03:53 AM Nice looker! What year is it?
I was hoping to hear you'd paid a lot for it as I'm about to stick my 750 up for sale http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
dan uk 06-24-2003, 04:12 PM Hi Dave
It's a 98 injected.
But selling wise if your 97 is clean then i'd go in at 3.5K. I still see 'em up for more than that and no way i'd shift below 3K
Speak again mate
dan
RepulsioN 06-24-2003, 11:13 PM Dan,
looks clean, try and keep it that way...and get rid of that horrible grab rail.
