Why wouldn't you just withdraw the cash or get a cashiers check for the money ???

the point is to get those "rewards" that some card companies offer...giving a salesman cash is simply doing him a favor. although i tried using a credit card because of the extra 3% i get back, but the dealership wouldn't let me because of the extra fees they have to pay.

Just be careful SOME banks will put a limit on your debit card that can be spent in a day. For safety purposes if it were stolen. I guess they figure if your going to spend several thousand it would be a withdrawel or check.

Just a simple phone call to check before you cruise down to the dealer and then look stupid if you get denied.

Also a dealership will put a limit on how much you put on a credit card or check card because people will get what they want and then dispute the charge for something ignorant and the dealership is out the money while the dispute is being handled.

The fees are quite steep as well depending on the credit card processing company the dealership is using.
