Anyone reading this who lives in Germany ???
(none-forces people that is, 'cos I assume you guys have some special military deals right!?)

Anyway ... I am a Englishman, living in Germany and looking for a good/cheap insurance company.

The one I got already (HUK24) seems pretty good and is cheap enough, but they have just told me that with the renewal of my contract, they can no longer insure me for "fire and theft" (teilkasko) outside of Germany, Austria and Switzerland!?

WTF is that all about?? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wtf.gif
This basically means if I cross the border into France (which is 30 minutes away), or go down to Spain or Italy (which I was hoping to do this summer!), and some w**ker nicks my brand spanking new mota, then I am completely stuffed right!?! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
Thanks for any info anyone can pitch my way ... Damnit!

PS I know there is a gixxer.de website, but my German is pretty crappy, and wasn't sure I would get much of a response if I posted in English! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Likewise ... might not get much of a response here eh!?!? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wait.gif
Ahh bollx ... probably means hours of trying to figure out which one of these German insurance companies to go with and especially what is written into their contracts - where's that bloody DE/EN dictionary when I need it!? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif

Hi,
Even though I am one of those "forces" guys I still may be able to help a little. I have a few friends here in Germany. Let me ask around and see what they say. I think evedn if you went out of the country I would tell them it happened in my back yard. Who will ever know?
Where in Germany are you at? I am in the Frankfurt area.
Later,
Dan

Hey Dan ...
I'm down in Heidelberg, great for rides out in the Odenwald http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif - I presume you are one of the military bases just north of Darmstadt?
And yeah - any insurance info you can get would be really appreciated! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Cheers

Hi,
Actually I am in Hanau. I know some americans out that way in Hberg. I rode Odenwald once, nice time but not as nice as riding here in my back yard.
Have you been to the Nurburgring yet? Henkie and I will meet there in a few weeks for some fun and Schnitzels http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif

Nurburgring!??!
The Green Hell!!! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wtf.gif
ME THERE = Nope!
Not had enough track time masel' ... plus I have seen too many nutty vid's and heard stories that'll turn yer stomach ... wanna live a little longer b4 heading out onto The Ring!
Had a blast on my old bike round Hockenheim earlier this year though - now that was cool!! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/punk.gif
They also do track evenings there (on Thursdays 5-8pm) throughout summer - €12 for 15 minutes ... only problem tho is that there is no classification (eg nov/int/pro) for each session, so the abilities on track are mixed and it does get very hairy when some dude who thinks he's Rossi comes pounding through a bend and almost rear ends the dude who ain't been there before and has decided to throttle off/sit up mid-corner ... OK so he shouldn't be out there, but he is, and that's where my major concern lies! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
(too many hero's and too many zero's ... I'd like to think I sit somewhere in the middle! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif )
anyway ... you got any news on insurance companies fer me?? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Cheers

PS Odenwald is a great laugh and very close to me ... the Pfalz is also good, but too many straight dual carriageways to get there and back for me to do it that often! Should explore up your way some time ... got any good tips??
