: Michelin Power Race Pressures Cold & Hot?????

This is my first year running race tires. I found a page on here from Michelins site that said "run 22-24 rear and 31-33 front cold" and said "do not run above or below this pressure!" So a group of guys that I go to the track with interpreted that as, check and set the pressures cold and right before you remove the warmers reset the pressures to the reccomended cold pressures. About five guys did that with good results and they are considerably faster than I. However I set mine once and left them alone and good results but my rear did break loose pretty bad once toward the end of the day on a gix 6. Ive got the pr1 and pr4 combo which is a 120 70 soft-soft and a 180 55 soft medium-soft. Anyone got suggestions let me know but Ill probably just call Sportbike Track Gear and ask them before this weekend as I am going to the track. Thanks for the input.

You & your friends misinterpreted that info.

Cold pressures mean just that... when the tires are cold. You should have set them cold, and pretty much left them alone. You can certainly adjust the pressures hot... but the pressures you'll be shooting for will be at least 3-5 degrees higher than cold. Your tires were significantly under-inflated.

BTW - the 21-22 rear pressure is only for PR-series tires, not the normal 'power race'.

I did not change my pressure after setting it cold in the morning. The rest of the group I went with did as I said above. I have the pr1-4 combo on the 6 and a pr 1 and a medium 190 60 on my r1. The Michelin website had no distinction between the two as far as pressures. What is the correct pressure for the normal power race since you seem to know. Thanks for the info.
