Barkwood,

Its great to see another young person in this forum. Ask a lot of questions, I definitely have and have learned a lot.

As far as opening a Roth IRA, I guess it is mainly a peronal choice. I am getting ready to roll over my IRA and was looking at Vanguard or Fidelity. The key is to find a place that has the least amount of fees. Fees will kill your gains from the start and some places those fees can get hefty.

Also remember that even as a customer of one financial group, you can usually buy mutual funds of another. This may cost you a few extra dollars in a fee, but at least you are not completely limited.

There is some good advice in the thread where I asked about rolling over a Roth IRA, check it out: http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129191

Like I said, keep asking questions and researching. Education is your best friend. :cheers

thx a lot bro, the personal finance book i read last night mentioned vangaurd and fidelity for other investments too, great to know you're here to help :)

i've always liked learning about business but didn't do so hot in college calculus 1 and 2 which is required for any business major, i'm thinking about cutting my hours down to 12 hours a week and double majoring in business along with my first major, cinematography

:cheers

Fidelity is great. They have excellent customer service. THey talk to you in terms you can understand, and don't talk down to you. They are informative and helpful.

They also have a great website that's easy to use for transfers and research.

BTW...yahoo's finance page has an awesome mutual fund screener.
