I was doing 65km down a city road at 2am and well .. a copper decided to pull out and put on his cherries .. I wasn't going to fast so I decided to stop .. anyways he gets out of the car and says well well 103 in a 50 ... I am thinking what ??? so I told him that I want to see the radar and he says nope don't have to show you ...and then he asks how I know what speed I am doing .. so I answered " from my speedometer" this is my first Major speeding ticket .. but actually it isn't even a ticket .. just a damn court date .. like copper was a complete assss.. he then says my plate isn't mounted properly and the primer on my bike isn't the color on the ownership ... and he still refuses to show me his radar gun and the clocked speed .. what to do here???? I have a court date in June for this ... what can happan from this .. I need my license for my Job will they have some leniency on this because of that ????

yeah your pretty much fucked with that ticket if you don't get it thrown out.... weird he didn't want to show you the radar gun... that was/is a law given you asked.... you'll likely have to hire a lawyer or points..... either way its going to cost you money.... you'll definetly have to fight it....

good luck..... you'll have lots of time.... likely take 6 months to get through the court system..... hopefully the cop won't show or theres something not filled out right on the ticket and it gets thrown out....

oh and i wouldn't go out of my way to inform you insurance agency.... not sure if the cops send them a copy.... but as far as i know the insuracnce company does random checks... don't make any wave or change insurance companies... and they might not see it... at least for a little while.....

That sucks man. but the cop is right, he dosnt have to show you the radar. Usually its because of safty reasons though, like along a busy highway. He was just being a dick.
If you have the money you should hire a points guy. But you can always defend yourself and get the same results.
But before you go to court or talk to the prosecutor, plead not guilty and file for a motion of discovery. Dont say anything to the prosecution until you get these documents.

If you fight it , and you should, ask the cop (in court) the make, brand and model of radar gun used. ask the serial # of the unit and also and this is most impotant- ask when it was last calibrated. the questions,if not answered properly and completely, will cast doubt as to the accuracy of the radar gun and the judge will likely reduce all fines and points. he might not eliminate them but he'll at least make them managable or inconsequential. The trick is most cops right this info down on the back of their copy of the ticket or summons if the get the suspicion from you that you'll protest it in court. So never say "I'll see you in court" to a cop. They get paid to be there and then you through away the only chance you have to beat it on a technicallity.

ah dewd, that's shitty. was he sitting in the parking lot of the garage/car cleaners? I've seen them sitting there before.

Dirty bastards.

I was down in Pt. Dalhousie (not riding), and we were waiting to get into the bar, and I was watching the harley's in front of the Lions.... it kills me... If we have a pipe that's "too loud" we get ticketed for it, then I see these harleys that are painfully loud (example, some guy comes rolling up in one these V8 harleys setting off car alarms while he goes past, cops just laugh).

http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gifFackin' cops, I got a feeling Niagara is gonna be a shitty place for sport riders this year.

Dude, go here fight your ticket (http://www.magma.ca/~fyst/appndxc.htm) spend some time and read it completely! Then start preparing. A little late now, but in any case, when selecting a date for court, always try to make it in the evening. Statistically, cops are less likely to show for evening court dates.

You should "frustrate" the system to your advantage. You will see what I mean by that once you click the link above.

Good luck

Thanks for all the input guys .. I have till June 26 to put together a good case here.. I know if I was doing 50+ over the limit .. I would have just opened it up and said " F-U " copper but I wasn't doing 50+ over that is why I stopped .. so I will have to wait and see what is going to happen .. keep the idea's coming..

Thanks alot
