: Moving to Atlanta
SSPerformance.net 05-10-2003, 04:14 PM Tomorrow I am off to Atalnta for a new job. I guess I'll have to remove the "3 month layup" from my insurance http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif
So are there any roads in the area that I have to check out? A friend told me 60 (?) was a good ride and that up North there are some good roads in the moutains.
Any good bike shops on the South side of the city? I'll be in the Sharpsburg/Newnan area. Any shops to avoid?
How's the PoPo? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'm no squid. But any locals to avoid, or at least toe the line around, even for us responsible riders?
Thanks!!

The North GA mountains is where the fun's at! Plus a bunch of other roads less travelled towards NC and TN. From Newnan, I think it's a good hour and a half to the mountains. Here's a teaser:

That's Hwy 129 (Blood Mountain) in N. GA.

http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/yumyum.gif Thanks! I've heard there are some great roads around here, and they are actually well maintained, unlike the roads up North. I'm going to do some search and destroy tonight!
CASINO 05-15-2003, 09:26 AM I agree the Mountains are a good place to ride cause it gets booooorring in the city except on Sat. night.
PoPo :
I-20 : state patrol all weekend.
City of Atl: Chronic bike harassers
Cobb County: Rumor has it that they have a Busa... Camaro confirmed
Dekalb County: Just got a helicpoter
I 78-85(south) : More cops than you can shake a stick at
Rockdale County: Not to bad but got a bunch of young gunz
Riders:
There is a Ruff Rider chapter here.... I have personal opinions but it wont discuss them
Just watch out for the squids and posers... they are real obvious here
There is a group the will bounce 170mph to every destination and the leader, through no fault of his own, injured/killed several riders trying to keep up with him.
The white dudes with fur on their bikes are sick, but cool...
Shops:
Avoid the dealer at all costs.
Find a shop and stick with them... I use RRR they are great and the owner races and sponsors a Gixxer, ridden by Brian Livengood (#14).
We like to ride out here so you should be cool. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/burnout.gif
SSPerformance.net 05-19-2003, 09:24 AM Thanks for the info http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
I've noticed South of the city I get some weird azz looks riding around on the yellow gix with jacket, lid, and gloves... "Look Earl that there's one of them crotch rockets! "
It's a little strange considering I could sit on my front porch on any given sunday and see 25-50 sport bikes go by.
Stefan 05-19-2003, 11:17 AM Yeah its even funnier when I don the Power Ranger suit(aka the SPYKE 1 piece suit) around here. There are a lot of people that ride around here with at least jackets, gloves, and helmets so don't worry about it!
Have fun
world101 05-19-2003, 01:36 PM if the damn rain would ever stop, maybe we could go riding...

No kidding! One of the reasons I moved down here was to have more riding time http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
But I have heard that this is extremely abnormal, and it hasn't been any better up North http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
