Seeing that ebay has a vast server farm and tons of bandwidth I would be more apt to believe it was a problem with your computer and/or ISP.

I was trying to bid on a slip-on 2 weeks ago, and just as I was about to bid my cable dropped and I could bid.

The next week I found a full system for just a little more than the same price. Everything happens for a reason :)

I have 3 computers at home, so if I'm really on something like a rabid dog, I'll have it open on 1 computer with Internet Explorer, on another one with Mozilla Firefox, and another on my laptop and keep refreshing them just as a failsafe now.

Has anyone used an auction sniper? They work.

www.auctionsniper.com
or use google for auction sniper programs.

Well you have to picture other people trying to do exactly what you are doing, you also have to imagine that happening with other bids that end at or around the same time. I wouldn't be surprised that Ebay is use to the spike and does nothing about, just because the more bandwidth you have the more people suck it up.

Ive always used the "High Bid" option...

agreed about using the sniping programs, i've won many an auction with those. and presumably saved a few dollars too.

Oh and don't fret, something better is always around the corner, the bike i ended up buying i saw for sale 8+ months before i ended up buying it. Also from the same owner! I turned up, gave him the dollars, and got what i deem to be a pretty cheap and cheerfull bike. :)

I usually open the bid in one window, when ctrl+n into another. I go all the way into the bid page, so I have a refresher page and a bid page going at the same time. Hasn't failed me yet.

If he wrecks it he will be disappointed plus all the miles that will be on it by the time it gets home. Gas, Food, etc. That's a very stupid move. :hammer
