This is an informative for those who do not know about this. Let me start out by saying YOUR HAND CLUTCH IS NOT THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN CHANGE GEARS!. Many new riders feel that this is the only way, thinking of it similar to manuel cars.
Bikes are made with what i like to call "hot spots" on the throttle. Adjusting the throttle to this location will allow you to change gears freely.
How do you do this?
Up-Shifting:
1) When starting out it is best for you to use your hand clutch, however once you start moving you can keep your hand rested on the left handle grip
2) When you are ready to shift into 2nd, you want to move your throttle upwards (Your wrist should angle down).
3) Simaltaniously you need to shift into 2nd while hitting the "hot spot"
4) You should be switched into the next gear, however be careful not to hit neutral.... you wont get very far other wise :nono
Down-Shifting
1) Once you are going and you wish to downshift (Beginners should try 3rd or 4th gear) you can rest your left hand on your grip
2) When you are ready to shift down, you want to move the throttle slightly down wards (wrist should slightly move up). This "Hot spot" is harder to find than the other.
3) Now you must down-shift and hit the "hot spot" at the same time and then BOOM! you have down shifted....
*Note: Usually it's safer to hold in the clutch while approaching a complete stop*
If you have tried this and are successful then GOOD JOB!:punk
